Updates to my 67 VW beetle

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

While the 67' Bugs are highly desirable they can be hard to find parts for because a lot of parts on the car are one year only parts. The 67's also were the first year that the safety equipment was added like collapsible steering wheels, shoulder belts, etc.
I think the 67' was a "transition car" to transition from the original bug to the "fat chick" of the later years.

I agree, by 73' it was no longer a "special" car.

The list of one year parts for the 67 include-

hood, front fenders, decklid, rear apron, body molding, doors, dash knobs, seat belts, rear bumper, vent wing latches, back-up lights, brake reservoir, air cleaner, Sapphire V, VI and VIII radios, 3 different (early, mid, late 67) door lock knobs, 2 (early/late) 67 only low back seats, master cylinder.

Although many parts can be interchanged with some modifications/non originality purposes.

I bought used 67 only door handles at $125 unkeyed, just because they are so rare.

Well we have been painting a little more. Still no sanding or buffing yet. So its not the clearest coat.

The paint color is naturally kind of dull anyways. Its not supposed to be a mirror.

I always called that color "Split Pea Soup Green".
Was that a 1967 color? I seem to remember it more on bugs from 1961-65 or so.
My favorite VW bug color was Sea Blue (Sea Blau). I remember it as kind of a blue with a hint of green in it but when I see cars repainted with that color it looks more blue-blue than I remember it.

It was an original color for 1956. My car is far from original anyways, So I said why not!

My dads 66 beetle is Sea Blue, it has been repainted. There is a slight tinge of green in it, but not much.

Yup, that's the exact color I remember Sea Blue as being. Your photo of the car next to the red one is exactly as I remember it. I especially like it if the bug has that color with a white interior.

Thanks for posting those photos, I enjoyed them very much!
