Hello everyone,

Much to my wife's chagrin, I've waited until tonight to replace the heating element in the upper oven of our GE P7 dual wall oven. Unlike the element in the lower oven which I replaced a few months ago, this element has an extra piece attached to it that's connected to a few wires. Would anyone be able to tell me what this is and how I can disconnect it to replace the element?

I can't advise on how to extract that element, but using your oven's model number you might try searching for an image of the element on line, which could offer clues about how it connects/disconnects.  I would think these elements would be readily available at appliance parts retailers, but at this point, probably not until Friday.

The Ephemera site also has a parts catalog available for download.  If you click on the link, you can view the first page of the catalog, which indicates where model numbers are located on the various types of ranges and ovens.
