www.cozytownlinens.com for usa made bedding in a plethora of sizes. Can't find the right depth fitted sheet at the mall? This outfit has a huge range of pocket depth sizes for your fitted sheet. I have a 300TC set going on 11 years for my OMF queen mattress and they wear like iron and even the elastic is still sturdy.

With all the imported garbage out there, I find these two companies refreshing. The products are of excellent quality.

I just got new glasses this past Saturday, and the frames are Made in the USA.  They are made by the Shuron Co. of Greenville, SC.  The frames are the original ones that were so popular during the 1950's and into the 1960's.  Shuron is also the company that supplied the glasses Kevin Costner's character wore in the movie "JFK".

 

P.S., I got the Black Briar frames with the tapered temples.

How are those glasses holding up? I searched high and low to find your post to figure out the brand you had gotten there cuz I want a pair for myself. I'm looking at the Ronsir Revelation in Ebony on black frame - the modernized version with the shorter lenses. And did you buy them locally or did you have to order them from Shuron? (I could've sworn you posted about this in As The Tub Turns also, but I truly can't find that thread for the life of me)

VitaMix blenders-in fact starting collecting them!!Kirby vacuum cleaners,Blendtec blenders,Kitchen Aid mixers.Will have to think of more.Good that VitaMix is still family owned-owned by members and relatives that founded it in the 20's!!Soon they could be 100yrs old!

They're probably the most durable eyeglass frames I've ever had.  I ordered them through a local optical company, Downtown Optical, who already happens to have an account with them.  I printed out a color copy of the page with the style I wanted, they took my measurements, and I had them in about 2 weeks.  I've received so many compliments, it's unbelievable!

I spent the last few days chasing down places that might have any on display or admit to doing business with them (I emailed Shuron and they gave me a list of names that had ordered from them before but some places had claimed to know nothing about them!), and eventually found a guy with a shop in Wicker Park that has a whole store full of retro style frames (i.e. Hipster) including Shuron. Now to find a time to get up there as it's not exactly close by.
The trouble I will go through to find high quality things!

I'm glad you were able to locate someone.  Funny that in a city as large as Chicago it's so difficult to find a retailer who carries the brand you want.  Downtown Optical here in Wausau was so easy to work with.

It is surprising how hard it can be to find certain things in this area despite being so large. I think a lot of that has to do with so many things being chains so there's really only 3-4 stores sprinkled in repetition all over the area. Then the ma & pa places just carry things similar to what the chains carry.

Looking around my house the main ones that stand out to me as Made in the USA are:

Bathroom : Clinique - quite a fan of their shave cream. It's expensive but it really works and one can shape one's hipster beard much more easily than using foams. Other than that Avalon organics range of shampoos and so on get a lot of use in my house.

Kitchen : a couple of random salad dressings and occasionally one finds the odd bit of US fruit appearing here - notably grapes and sometimes other berries and the odd bit of Florida OJ.

Appliances: none that I'm aware of.

All my major appliances are made in Europe (Miele (Germany/Austria), De Dietrich (France), Siemens Fridges (Spain), vacuum cleaners, Miele and a Nilfisk [old and made in Denmark]. TVs Samsung and LG and both made primarily in South Korea.

Heating system is a Veissmann boiler (which I think may be made in Germany, I have never looked) and the controls are done by a local company called EHP with various valves and circulation pumps by mostly Danfoss. The solar heating and water heating system is all by an Irish company called Joule.

The only other items I own that was built here in Ireland is an old Krupps hand mixer, a Glen heater (Glen-Dimplex nowadays) and a very old Apple Mac from the 1980s and possibly some old telephones and stuff like that from the 1980s made for the old Telecom Éireann by long since disappeared companies like Lake Communications and MDS.
