Hahah, bogus, it can't be! USB can't suppy more than 2,5W of power and a microwave oven, even small, needs much more! Even on batteries, it couldn't be as one would need a battery as big as a microwave to supply the current!
...unless they're getting power from an unknown dimension hahaha

I did not believe it but i found the link

I saw those articles too, but I still can't understand how you can heat up a cup of tea in 60 seconds with only a few Watts of available power.

It has a battery that recharges off of USB. It is technically USB powered, but it can heat without being plugged in at the time. The big question is how long do you have to wait between bean cups or can you heat multiple cups between charges? I don't find Heinz beans to my liking especially (yes, I strongly prefer the sugary and spicy American Bush's), but I like the idea here and I really like the little cups of beans.

Fascinating!

However, is it only for beans? I like beans as much as the next person, but if it is only for beans, I would not be very interested in it at all. Man can not live on beans alone, sometimes he needs a potato, too.

Good Point Lawrence....

And I don't want to work in the same office with all of these bean eaters!
I think it would be great, as with all inventions if this did lead to smaller microwaves of different shapes that could accommodate more space / different shapes.

Little cup of beans? Good God, this is something right out of the Great Depression.

Yesterday I saw a commercial for "SoyJoy". Just remember, Tuesday is Soylent Green Day.

Yummy!

Soylent Green.
I need to get on the list for that.
Reminds me of days gone by!

Remember--

this is British.

Many British people eat beans more than once a week. The more often a person eats beans, the more readily a person digests beans.

The culprit with "wind" are certain long chain sugars which are not easily digested when one seldom eats beans,.

It is a fairly common (so I am told) part of an English breakfast to have beans on toast. Hey, they are a fine source of inexpensive protein......

"Little cup of beans? Good God, this is something right out of the Great Depression."

Not exactly. I bet those little bean cups are pretty expensive for the amount they contain. In fact, I think that the fact that someone's coming out with a tiny USB powered microwave co-branded with tiny overpriced convenience food for adults is proof that the economy is doing quite well in spite of itself. Since I know that sometimes store-brand beans are as little as 10 or 15p per can (300g?), and a small dial-type microwave costs as little as $40 here in the US, the Heinz Beanowave is proof that there's still plenty money to waste right now. If the package of bean cups sells for just a quid (and I bet it doesn't), and the little microwave for 30 (probably not), this is a quite expensive thing here.

"Man can not live on beans alone, sometimes he needs a potato, too."

Beanie Weenies made out of Bush's beans and Nathan's or Hebrew National's hot dogs would be pretty damn close to my ideal meal, at least for something under $2.

Hogwash

Is that an April 1st gag or what?
Any RF-generating cooking device in the USA must have a triple-interlock on the door. Do you see latch hooks to keep the door closed? Uh... no...
BEANS is a very appropriate term. This item is pure "beans".
Even if it were true, could you imagine the interference backing down the USB line into the power supply of your computer? OY!

British Beans

LOL I laughed at Maytag Bears post!

I think we do buy a lot of baked beans but I cannot think of the last time I ate them actually!

They can be part of a big English fry up, sassuage, egg , beans, hash browns, fried bread, mushrooms, bacon, black pudding etc.

I cannot beleive this thing tho, magnatrons need masses of power surley a tiny battery in that thing cannot power it for any length of time???
