does anyone out there actually still have

Sad to admit it but my parents still have the shag carpeting tha I grew up with. My old bedroom still has the baby blue shag that I used to have to rake every Sunday!! To go with the baby blue shag was my white Frnch Provencial bedroom set (Queen sized bed...go figure)!!! And my parents wonder why I'm the way I am :-)

Now that's the only way to thouroughly clean shag carpeting! :-)
My family had avocado green shag carpeting in the house we first moved to in California, about 1971. My mom had a old Kirby and when the new Kirby salsman came around he talked her into this HUGE wide-mouth Heritage model with a shag rake attached to the front. It looked like she was riding a tractor harvesting corn when she ran that thing! Ha!

This item has been repeated several times. It used to be $19.95 with a "make an offer" price. I offered $14.99 and got turned down. Right after this he upped the price.

I had a Kirby Heritage with the rack attachment. I was in college and cleaned houses on the side. I used that rake attachment sooooo many times! Customers cried if I didn't bring the Kirby that week. I also got some commission
$$$ from selling them these machines, too! I know 2 former customers still using them! Long live the Kirby!

I live in one of those complexes that people don't generally leave unless they die. There are some shorter term young residents, but some of the older ones have been here for decades. Hence, there is still shag carpeting in a number of the residents' units. The manager, a 30 year veteran herself, says that the older residents just aren't interested in the upheaval of having the carpets changed. One below me also has some great Heywood Wakefield pieces I would love to have!

I have the shag rake attachments for my Classic III's and a Heritage. I often see the shag rake attachment from Electrolux sitting in a bin somewhere but never pick them up.
Shag carpeting is back on the market, just saw some the other da when I was out looking at laminates. Naturally I liked the Marmoleum the best and which happens to be one of the most expensive products..darnit.
