I have a Kenmore Elite 800 canister vacuum which I really like. However, the foam on the seal of the port the hose connects into has gotten worn out and loose. As such, because of the leaky seal some of the dirt bypasses the bag and into the first filter.

What is that foam called? It reminds me a bit of foam weatherstripping tape. None of the parts I’ve found on line seem like a good match and are also ridiculously expensive for a piece of foam. I’d like to try and get some foam and try and make a new seal.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Bob

Open cell or closed cell foam...I can't think of which would be in that application. Closed cell has the more marshmallowy/rubbery feel to it (generally has a smooth surface); open cell is more conforming with a cushiony/sink into feeling with an open/rough/porous surface.
