My brother moved out recently, so my parents suggested that I take all my vacuums littering the downstairs, and store them in the now vacant room. Only my very favorites made the cut, and even many of those aren't impressive compared to other collectors' completely original gems, but I enjoy them. Here's what I squeezed into the tiny room.

dial a matic corner

I have a couple others, but they didn't make the cut. My 1100 is at the shop I work at :(

is that a bicentennial convertible i see in the first photo? and is that a Eureka *gold crown* (?) model? David

ummmm....

Gosh I wish I could answer either of those questions with confident knowledge. I'm not sure if it's a bicentennial model. It's gotta be one of the last metal base with square hood Convertibles made. It's very quiet and cleans really well. It's a joy to use. I would like to learn more about my Eureka actually. I will tell you that it's loaded with lots of gold accents on the base!

Urarachu, that is exactly the model of Hoover Constellation I remember around the house when I was a kid. Including the nozzle with the large wheels in back.

What year is that one?

Anyone know how much can one expect to pay for an example in that kind of condition?

It's a nice collection, plenty there I wouldn't mind having. Like you I've been relegated to one of the small downstairs bedrooms but a few have managed to escape again and find themselves back out in the rec room LOL. Another 15-20 years and the DAM's and even some of the later models are going to be nearing antiquity anyways so now is the time to start collecting them. Even that Panasonic, which btw I think are great vacuums. I've just aquired two recently, the small Jet Flo and the large deluxe model with brush wheels on either side. The Jet Flo is the quietest upright I've ever heard and so light and manouverable I would personally rate it as one of the best designed for use uprights made. I know years ago it was rated in CR but can't remember how well it did.

That Hoover sitting beside your Panasonic, those were made in England or Scotland weren't they?

Nice collection!

Corey that looks great!! You have some really nice cleaners, and a very diverse collection!
the Convertible(blue) in the first picture is the famous DENIM Convertible from the late 70's. That model came out sometime in 1976 and ran til maybe 79 or so, it was a promo model but not widely available. Its one of two "changeover" models I know of that were made on both the metal and plastic bases. I just got mine last last summer, roomate ran across one in a thrift store and picked it up for me.

Your Eureka 260 is one to hold on to as it is indeed the "Gold Crown" model from 1959. Eureka had two models to commemorate their 50th anniversary that year, a roto-matic canister with gold top, and the upright with the gold headlight lens. Unlike Hoover's Golden model 65 Convertible the Eureka anniversary models were for sale to the public. I've seen more of the canisters than the uprights. Yours looks very nice and original, definately a treasure!

Corey,
You have a great collection! I really like Hoovers, Kirby's and Eurekas and echo what Jeff said. Many vac folks are not fond of the Concepts but I think for cleaning they are great--a little on the loud side but you don't have to put your head next to the motor!

I only have on DAM and it is a model 1140 with attachments and original bill of sale from 1969. The Hoover 115 seems to be a staple with collectors and it does a great job cleaning.

In the second picture, next to the Hoover , (700 maybe?), what is in the middle with the red bag and red belt hole cover?

Dear urarachu...is that a model 69 Hoover Convertible with a headlight? It seems to be sitting next to a model 36 Convertible. It has a white replacement bag? Contact me if you want because I have an original neptune green bag to match your Convertible if you want it! Does the handle still have its "latch" or does the bag now use a spring? Great vacuums. The Hoover model 61 looks great too. I too have one of the "denim" Convertibles and Jeff is right, I have seen them in plastic and metal. Is your standard DAM with the tools a model 1118? That is one of my favorites!!! Thanks for the pictures. I hope that you can post more.

let's see here...

Designgeek...

I think the Constellation is from 1958 (I think!). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's the first floating model. I really love that Constellation. That thing has the best floor tool I have ever used on a canister. That little metal thing in the back balances the whole tool, so its really easy to push. I got mine off ebay. It was 50 dollars.

Petek...

The Hoover in that picture is made in Great Britian. I really love that vacuum. It's very powerful, and they're built really well. It's 2.4 amps.

Airway-Charile...

The vacuum next to the Hoover 700 is a Royal model 259. It's the quiestest upright I own. It's 3 amps, with 2 speeds. On low speed, it sounds like a hand mixer. That has my favorite bag design out of all the royals. It also has this neat pilot-esque badge on the side of the motor. It's heavier than most other royals I've used. They added all these slopes and pointless curves to the head, and it made it considerably heavier...

Tom...

Yep! That is indeed a model 1118 DAM! I just got that about a week ago. It has a few more scrathes than I'd like, but oh well! I put some new bristles and a belt in it, and it really cleans up! That IS a convertible model 69. It's one of my best looking ones (the 69 and denim one have almost no paint loss at all). The bag is held up by a latch. It's my only convertible that has that...

Corey

Yep!

That is a convertible model 34. The 34 is one of my favorite convertibles of all (I love orange). It originally had a vinyl replacement bag (those ultra plain white ones that you see on Hoovers so often now), and it really bothered me. I slapped a generic black commercial bag with orange letters on it on it, and I think it looks a lot cooler now. Gives it a sort of commercial look to it. Here's a pic...

wow

that teen girl was SOO taken by the BEAUTY and WORKMANSHIP of a classic Hoover Cleaner that she ABANDONED her DDR mid-play and began sweeping the rugs!

The 34

The 34 was a filthy mess when I first got it. Someone traded it in on a new machine, and it was entirely understandable. The handle was badly scratched, and the switch and cord were ruined. The bag spring was broken, so the bad wouldn't attach to the handle properly. I mean it looked really bad. But it cleaned up wonderfully, and now I really enjoy it.
