Uploading pictures
"I still need to get a camera and figure out how to load the pictures into my computer."
Seems like everyone forgets that owning a digital camera is not necessary to get pictures onto a site. A regular film camera will do, just have the pictures put on CD when having them developed. They can them be put into a compter and uploaded to wherever you want. I use Pictureworks (formerly Seattle Filmworks). They'll give you your pictures back as prints, negatives, and on CD's. They also will store your pictures on their servers forever, so long as you develop at least 1 roll with them a year. You can then give a URL that will let people see your pictures.
I've gotten to point that when I develop film, I order just the CD and the negatives, figuring that if I really need prints, I can go down to the local store and use the CD or the negatives to get them. This saves $ on the initial developing. I'm holding off on getting a ditial camera, since I would insist on 35mm resolution, which calls something above 5 megapixels. At this point, those digital cameras are still in the $500+ range, so I figure I'll just wait and keep using my Canon AE-1 film SLR
