Got 3 late 70s Maytags, a late 80s D&M built dishwasher, and a GE Filter-flo era dryer from 1993.

A matched Maytag pair, and with a sudsaver.
Plus an extra bol MT dryer.
So much fun.
And I hope everyone else is having fun with whatever you're doing. Life is too short to be unhappy. I hope my sharing my fun is inspiring to each and everyone. I believe, the world is a better place when people are content and pursuing their desires.

Congratulations! That's quite a haul! Where did you find all these goodies?
The dishwasher is really a WCI machine - D&M had given up on dishwashers by the time this one was made. It still bears resemblance to the original Westinghouse designs, though.

Even though it was owned by WCI that is still a D&M DW, it bears no similarly to a real WH DW, this DW was about the last gasp for D&M and it was already turning blue, LOL.
WCI-D&M added a self-cleaning filter module to their better DWs at this time as a desperate attempt to get more of the DW business at Sears after Sears finely had gone to Whirlpool for almost all of their DWs except the low end cheap junk.
Assembly quality did improve a lot on these basically D&M DWs by this time, but durability and performance were still nothing to get excited about.

John, when did D&M finally disappear?? I had an 80s Kelvinator for a short time and the racking is what reminded me most of the Westinghouse designs. I think it was an '85 model - would that really have been a D&M?
Nice group of machinery. I have a DE308, which is a reasonable match for the A608 washer that I have.

Thanks John, for the info. on D&M. I know what you mean with the bol Sears machines in the mid 90s.
I bought a few of the one-knob-wonders that had the same knob, same shaped control panel, same racks, and colors as the D&M here. At Sears they were sold under the name Capri, and you could get them for under $200. It seems like they were even close to $175. These were built-ins, and I bought them for rental properties. They did not have the 3rd level wash arm, they only had a rocker switch for the heated dry, and just the same timer knob.
They may not be the best machines, but a lot of memories....
Ken, it's actually a basement, a large basement. I'm sure I could easily fill it with hundreds of machines(cuz I've done it before) and still want for more. At this point there's only 14 machines, but I'm only about 3 weeks into my current collection, so...

I noticed this morning that both my newest MT dryers have the same timer, and its all timed drying.

3. What parts will it need?
4. Is it salvageable or for parts?
It's the typical sloppy, nothing inordinate. Considering its' upwards of 25 years old.
And it works.

So, I sprayed the panel with vinegar and wiped down the front. The sides aren't too bad, and I'm not too concerned right now.
This cord and hose storage area though, looks like the bottom of a bird cage. While the machine has filled with it's first batch of water and it's sudsy, why not use that wash action to my advantage. I'll take this piece off and put it inside (accept the actual cover, which I don't want the cheap silver trim to dissolve.)

The machine has gone through 2 batches of water. It's washing good, it doesn't appear to be leaking. The heat and water has softened up the inside, so lets get some baking soda, vinegar, and a soft brush to clean some of the gunk. And look at the paper and plastic bits in the wash arm. Also found a rubber band stopping the arm from freely turning.

After it's run a bit, the question is: is it leaking, and if so, from where.
But, I'm not seeing anything after pushing the machine to both sides.

It really suds up. There was detergent in the cup, which activated during the second wash, but apparently didn't open, and there was detergent in it in addition to the tab.

I reset the dial to the very start and came back about 20 minutes later, and look what I found.
I moved the machine to the side to try and figure where it came from (it's still doing rinsing). I clean up the water and push the machine back hoping to find at least a small puddle or two, but none.
After the machine finished, I did a light wash with 2 cups of vinegar and 1/4 cup of vinegar. After it started, I paused it for twenty minutes. Came back and it was clearly leaking from the door, but it's clear the motor seal has also leaked.
This is typical for D&M. I don't know how many machines (in the 80s) I found and this was nearly always the case.
Carefully lay the machine on a soft surface so can look underneath. Other than the ubiquitous spider webs, it looks like the typical D&M AND sure enough there is some water from around the pump area.
I just hope they still sell the door seal and motor seal kits. [this post was last edited: 11/20/2015-01:18]

Finishing up for now.
It makes the sound a D&M makes. It was fun, though as you may notice, it's white, but I don't think I could have expected anything other than possibly almond. I mainly got this for parts, but we'll see.

Good Clean-up job, yes its hard to know what to do with something like this DW, you could give it to someone or even make a little money selling it, we find at our business there is almost no demand for parts for D&M built machines, in fact I have boxes of new parts for D&M machines from the 60s on that I am gradually just throwing away [ or recycling the few that are metal ] older used KA, WP and GE DW parts we sell all the time.
