I think Vel has been sold off to another company (it was a Colgate-Palmolive brand); the Amazon page for it shows Vel as the manufacturer, and two other varieties of soap in addition to the Vel you're familiar with. None are currently available, but are supposed to be soon. I'm thinking C-P sold this off like they did Fab and part of Ajax. Amazon link is below:

Unfortunately, Vel bar soap was discontinued a while ago. Too bad, I liked it a lot. But that was one of those products that was not advertised nor was it widely available -certainly not in the Northeast. I was only able to purchase it in the South, West and Southwest when I travelled there. For a while you could purchase it on line at buyitbythecase.com, but I don't think even they have it any longer.
