Not TOL, Actually....

That's a single-oven Stratoliner, one model series below the TOL Liberator.

Nice range - very nice range - with the only drawback being the lack of a second oven. I never understood single-oven 40-inch ranges - if you're going to devote that much kitchen real estate to a range, why not make sure to have two ovens?

one step below the Liberator. Had Automatic Calrod on the selectable 6/8" LF burner and Griddle plug in controlled by the Calrod thermostat unit, which was the superior and durable liquid type until '59 or so, meat probe indicator, but only one oven. '57 had the stainless panel on the small door, 58 did not, but otherwise identical. '59 had a different control panel.
 
Simply a styling feature of GE in 1957, and only found on their TOL appliances (although, as pointed out above, there was one more-expensive range in their lineup than the one in the photo; still, this one has all of the other bells and whistles).
