Hello all,

Below is my link to You Tube where you can watch 2 videos of the machine going through a cycle. As you can see it washes well and can do nice deep rinses, but is a little too fussy in my opinion about balancing for spin. Infact video 1 ends with it doing this and video 2 starts with it still doing this! Once it's good to go the spin is pretty cool, though, and the slow down at the end is definitely `jet engine coming in to land!'. Still having some technical issues with the computer/video thingee so you will notice some drop outs especially on the commentary when I'm explaining the jetsystem - pretty funny in a way. You don't need me to tell you about the machine anyway you can see what it's doing ;-)

Enjoy

Yes

TBH I've never timed it, but I suspect it does reduce the time of the spin. In certainly gets the spin ramped up to speed quicker which is partly why I used it for the purpose of the video. Selecting Quick cuts out a lot of faff, and gets you deep rinses (only 2, mind, which is inadequate for me as I like a clear rinse - I run more rinses after) Oh, BTW, I did actually drink the final rinse water from the Hottie a couple of days ago. It was clear, but tasted faintly of Persil I (hadn't used softener) which was quite nice in a really weird way and I suffered no ill effects :-)

Without the quick option on the Zanussi the rinses fill while the tub is at distribute speed, and it literally just takes enough water to wet everything then stops, tumbles pointlessly for ages at different tumble speeds etc. When the drain pump comes on it pumps out about a teaspoonfull of water - the bulk of the water is actually `in' the clothes so is thrown out in the spin.

Cheers Mike and thanks for your nice comments about the Hotpoint vid.

Nick

Oh, and I forgot......

to apologise for the weird sound effects during the vid, namely my two year old son saying random things and my wife screaming in pain because I think he jumped on her or something........

confession:

the toddler and screaming wife sounds you mention were the PRIMARY reason i clicked! (LOL). and after that closeup, how COULD anyone think of criticising your wash?

Nick, great video of your Zanussi! Makes me miss mine in a way - as happy as I am to have this Miele I do miss the sounds of the Zanussi. Although my Zanussi didn't tumble in the fill or drain like yours does, it was still pretty dramatic and I love the spin noise. Mine wasn't too pernickety with balancing though - was actually quite similar to the Miele actually in that it balanced pretty well first off. My AEG however is quite similar to yours, in that it can take an age to balance, but I don't know if you've ever noticed this with your Zanussi but my AEG will be very pernickety on some loads that are perfectly balanced but other times if it's unbalanced, it won't detect an unbalance and just go through the spin as normal vibrating sometimes quite heavily! The rinsing on yours sounds similar to my AEG - my AEG will distribute on all rinse fills (whether or not Time Saver is selected), the spin profile seems quite similar too though on my Quickwash spin it does a slow burst, slows back down to distributing then spins again - Hotpoint style in that the drum keeps distributing between spins rather than stop and tumble. Ramps up to 1600 quite quickly too and maintains it for about 3 minutes before slowing down, rather than profiling up over about 2 minutes and maintaining 1600 for 4 at the end.

You've inspired me to take some videos of my own soon - once I get a better camera I will! (Unfortunately the only decent video camera I have at the moment that lets me do long videos is my mobile phone, which doesn't have too good picture or sound quality).

All the best,

Jon
