VIDEO OF THE MAYTAG COMMANDER, THE WHIRLPOOL SUDS-RETURN AND THE FABULOUS EASY SPIN

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

EXCELLENT video, thanks for sharing! That black Easy agitator you put in the Spindrier looks like the one in Robert's automatic.

Thank you, Patrick, you're so nice. Thank you Brett, and

I intend to have a ball. You didn't know how much I loved washers, did you?
Now you do, just like you, except that your technical skills dwarf mine.

Gotta tell ya, your video is absolutely fantastic. Thanks a million for posting it. I thought I would be finished with my collection as I only have two more to go, but seeing the Easy Spin made me think twice. ((--::

Thanks again.

Mikeyd----

Thanks---that was fun!

The trick on getting those old agitators to look so new and shiney is to go to "Blowes" and get a spray can of "Rust-o-leum" Crystal Clear Enamel------over where the spray paint is located.

It usually takes about three light coats (with plenty of time to dry, in between applications) to get it back to new looking. Be careful not to get too close or spray to heavy---- the stuff will run on you and leave drip marks.

thanks so much Dick,

I can't imagine life without an Easy--do get one !--or how a washer lover can not have one.

Steve, I'll buy a can tomorrow and spray it ouside. You don't know how disadvantaged I've felt seeing all the gleaming Surgilators, etc. Now I know. Thank You

Hi Mike

Cool video! Love the way you showed us all three of those machines. I wondered how the SS worked on those machines. I have a 65 Kenmore with a "Suds" position marked on the dial. Will have to give it a try sometime. <:

Thanks Rick--so glad you liked it, my holy trinity.

On the DD's the pump is running in reverse except during drain and spin. That's how I "discovered " the hidden suds return.

Bedtime in the Northeast. Night-night and thanks again. See you tomorrow.

Mike

This is very fun. I had music on but I will watch the video again so I can hear the narration. My favorite Maytag, I love Easy Spindriers, and I had never seen a direct drive suds saver working. I didn't even know they existed until a couple years ago when I knowlegeable member told me.

Ab Fab!!

Hi Mike

Wonderful vids and what an education, love the sudz return and that KA agi is "Way Past Shredmore"...lol

From another twinny nut across the pond, that Easy is a marvel, two speeds and didnt realise that they had a removable spinner, easy servicing indeed...the white Spiralator is very much like the Hotpoint UK TL...

Cheers, Mike

Hi MickeyD....loved your video...I used to have Easy Spin Dry but gave it to one of the other members of the Tucson Contingent, Nate and he still uses it....found the machine splashy when rinse water went into the cone of the spin dryer.

Ross

Hi Mickey ... That was great; thanks for sharing!

Love seeing your Model J, Whirlpool and I'm now in love with the Easy!! :-)

Yes ... please wash a load of something in the Easy and videotape; that would be great.

I have GOT to videotape some Maytag wringer action for everyone, too. Maybe I should put a camera on my Christmas list! :-)

Happy Thanksgiving ...

the video was fantastic. Thanks for sharing with us.

I have an Easy Spindry like the one you demonstrated -- it will be in my possession sometime this week or next -- and I can't wait. They've always fascinated me.

Can't wait to meet you in Tucson.

Great video - it wouldn't be conventional washing without a wash-stick! Loved that!

Do you know what kind of pump you have in the DD Whirlpool? Later revisions of this pump had a rubber flap to stop the pump from pulling in air while in agitation so the suds-saver trick might not work with those. I've shown people almost the same thing on Maytags without a siphon break, put the drain hose in a glass of water... Could be a good way to dispense bleach in a machine without a dispenser?

You could add a toggleswitch to the back of the Whirly that starts agitation for suds return - no searching for the sweet spot on the timer dial, but that's part of the fun too.

Thanks for the video - your laundry room looks like lots of splashy fun!

Hi Mike, what a wonderful video! I loved how you used just a few brightly colored clothes so we could very easily see the their movement in the water.

I had no idea you could make a DD Whirlpool perform a suds-return, very cool!

Hi Mike, Thanks for sharing. I have always wanted an Easy spin dryer like you have there. I have a Commander too but with no pump. If I had a video cam I could do a load in the twin Dex Dexter from 1949. Have a great Thanksgiving. Gary

Is there any way that you can download a YouTube video, like you can with the Google Video player?

I much prefer downloading if possible.

Anyway, thanks for the great video!

Thanks Scott, what other member knows about the DD suds return?

Mike, "Way past shredmore" that's pretty funny. We should get pictures of the Htpt & Easy spiralators together

Foral, glad to oblige.

Ben, so nice; bet you're beautiful too

Westy, Thank you, Man--do you ever miss your Easy?

Geoff geoff geoff, I planned to dedicate the Commander flic to you but I had gansky in my head because he wrote that wonderful story about his Gram's Maytag and her wash stick. Did you catch it? I knew you'd die over the Easy. There's nothing like it!

Easyspindry, we were probably separated at birth--can't wait to meet you too.

Spats, that was my goal: that you would find it awesome

Thank you, Gary, and I would love to see a flic of your Dexter because you have a good one.

Laundra, just go to youtube and type Crazy Wash Machine Tricks

Finally I get to share knowledge that I've had NO ONE to give it to all of my life with two of the most knowledgeable and gifted members in the club. What a Thanksgiving treat to show Robert something he doesn't already know, and to be able to tell Gansky something--ANYTHING-- he doesn't already know about washing machines. Here goes, fellows

Gregoryyyyy, the last three minute interval is simple to find on any of these KA/WP/KM machines; just move the dial one click past the 6 minute mark--piece of cake, but it's SLOW speed agitation and pump--ho hum zzzzz. The trick is to find the tiny interval in the last hair's breath between 6 and 3 where no filling will occur and the machine will agitate and pump at high speed. Are you with me, Brother Gansk. With practice, it becomes easy.

Robert, all those hundreds of videos that you have made--good God !-- and finally I get to show you just one. I love to wash a few things at a time at low water levels, Mike loads if Bob allows it. I wash every day and mostly love the water currents, pumping and draining. Finding out that you were unfamiliar with the hi-speed DD suds-return until I showed you made my heart leap up with joy. Thank you.

You should see the other secrets I have learned. I can't wait to amaze you and all of my bros & sisses in the club. And I'm so happy I can finally GIVE BACK and SHARE.

FRIGILUXTER:beginning to think you didn't like me anymo

What with you being a thrice-a-day site hitter and all--HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!

How nuts is this: 30 people will be here by 3 or 4, i have a million things to do, and I'm washiing WASHING !!! And i don't give a flyin' spaghetti. Wonder who else is playin' too?

Just stopped by to see if you said hello. Thank you.

Next video will answer your question

Hooked

Wow! I have watched this clips many times. My Great Aunt had an Easy, but I never got to see it in action. She had three of them and swore they were planned to last only five years and 1 month, just beyond the trnasmission gaurantee. My grandmother and mom both had Maytag wringer washers until I was in high school.
You are a master of the machine. (It is amazing the things we can figure out to do with machines, when no one is watching!)
Kelly

Kelly, sorry I missed you. Hope you're doing well

All Sunday morning I was drooliing for one of those "orange zest" muffins you baked recently; they looked and smelled glorious.

Thank you, made an even more shocking washer discovery. Filming next Saturday. Hope to stun you.

Eugene, this flick has been viewed 850 + times, and like you, I have no clue who's viewing.
