Save me please!!! Must be some of the first ones with the loading diagram on the door. The dispenser has a slide door and its not of Bakelite material. This must be the last model of the push button design with these features that followed the timer dial control. What is up with the ceramic garbage disposal?

I never knew this first generation of spin tubes had a model with rinse agent, graphics on the door, and dual wash detergent dispenser.  Yep, this needs to be saved.  Must have been the last of the series right before the change that resulted in different racks and the huge timer dial on the door in 1960 or 1961.  I wonder if the cycle sequence/times is any different than the dual wash models that were sold after the big style redesign.

EEK!  The link is no longer working... Hope it's because someone saved it.

The aluminum trim panel on the dishwasher and the 'swirled' top housing of the disposer are screaming 1958 at me, but I could be (usually am...) wrong about that.

Interesting. Well I am happy to announce that this machine has been saved! Looking for information on my new/old dishwasher and I stumbled on a picture that looked very familiar.

I bought my first house earlier this year and this was the first piece I bought for it. It inspired me to build a full 50s kitchen around it. The sink casting is dated 9/58 and the water valve looks to be dated 2/59, so your guesses seem spot on. The dishwasher inside is absolutely mint. It was supposedly never run and truly looks it. The door detail is crisp. There was still original tape holding the rack flaps up. The disposal is a Waste King and seems to be from the same period. I can get better pictures as it sits now.

I got it all hooked up and went to test. Everything seems to work except I've got no water. Shifts between modes, motors humming, heater running, but no water. My first thought was the inlet valve being frozen. Luckily the exact valve is still available new. I could probably rebuild it too. Any other thoughts you guys might have if that's not the issue? Thanks!

What a Great Save Jason.

Bless you for appreciating these great appliances for such a Young Man.

There will be many chiming in shortly. I for one and think I can speak for everyone in the club would Love to see some pictures of your Kitchen.

This is just great.

Welcome to the site, Jason and congratulations on saving this wonderful dishwasher/sink combination.

It is very likely that the fill valve for the dishwasher is clogged - it happens pretty often when a dishwasher of this vintage is used, then stored.  The good news is that these valves can be disassembled and cleaned easily enough.  A little CLR can bring them back to life!  In a very worst-case scenario, you could replace the valve, but do try cleaning it first.  I'm attaching a photo of how I retro-fitted a modern GE dishwasher valve on my '58 Spin-Tube, in case you need to replace yours...

And, yes, please do share pictures of your kitchen with us!!

Good to hear; that was my first thought so I wasn't too worried when it didn't run first go-around. The beautiful thing is that there is an ebay seller who has matching NOS valves with the solenoid attached and all. Not too shabby a backup plan! But I will definitely crack open the original first to try and bring it back to life.

Thanks for the enthusiasm and help!
