Vintage 1957 Kenmore Washer and Dryer, $200 each (Kalamazoo, MI)

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I'd like to see interior shots of both to prove they've nevr been used.  That's the dryer our neighbor across the street had since new.  It was replaced by the black Touch Command Hotpoint dryer in around 1970.

Just taking up space since 1957?  I suppose that's possible, but more likely it's the seller who has never used them.  From the exterior, it sure looks like somebody else did use them.

I agree with Bob totally. I want to see the money shot on both machines and I'd like to see in back of them as well to see if there's any kind of wear from use.
What I'm currently looking at leads me to believe that NEY NEY THEY HAVE BEEN USED at some point in their 60 year existence.

Am sorry, but that house

Is one step up from trailer park trash. Don't meant to offend but just cannot see appliances in that condition and the state of surroundings being "unused".

That house does not look as if they sent things out, and or had another set stashed away somewhere. Presence of a child's bicycle means there are or were children in the household, that means laundry, and lots of it, so where and how was it done?

Even being generous and believing the set was truly "unused" since installation. They've been sat sitting in that environment for so long who knows what the interior looks like, and or has set up housekeeping over the years.

I'm with Steve on this one

By the looks of the dirty house = dirty clothes ...... so yeah I'll believe they have never been used. Ugh! They would have to sit outside for a month before I would go near them. But wouldn't mind having them after full restore.

I was wondering the same things about those jugs. After watching enough episodes of Hoarders you acquire an eye for such things. Seeing a house that looks as nasty as this one with jugs of "something" on the floor you wonder what the "something" might be.

I wonder if the dryer is gas or electric?

Wet feet?

They remind me of what happens in wet basements - I grew up in city built on a swamp. MANY basements in my hometown flooded. Many appliances in the basement eventually had these wet feet signs. Although there's no water line.

Conviently no other photos are included.

Ad updated a week ago. I've been resisting the urge to inquire about these ever since they were posted here. We can see the surroundings they're in are very nasty but until actually inspected you never know. Could be a nightmare under the skin or not bad.

But therein lies the problem. As many here have experienced they are way too far from me to inspect in person. Best case scenario would be if there were a fellow member located in the area who would be willing to take a look at them. But then logistics of setting up shipping and cost makes it an impractical idea.

At the same time I've been watching for a mid to late 50s Kenmore pair for some time. Guess I'll have to continue to be patient and keep looking. Sooner or later a set close enough to be feasible will show up.
