vintage 1960's - 1970's Whirlpool washer

Hi everyone I am new to this Forum, but I have a small collection of washers and dryers such as the Maytag E2L, Whirlpool Design 2000, Speen Queen Marathon (1986 - electronic). I was wondering if any of you guys have an 1960's or 1970's Whirlpool washers that you want to get rid of. such as the following:

I'm very sorry for using existing pictures, but I have not seen any of these models around where I live. I am looking for machines like the ones pictured above. I realize that the ones pictured above are already taken, however I am looking for machines like these, as they are some of my dream machines. If anyone comes across any please let me know.

Thank you for the welcome. That machine almost does it, however it does not have the console light though.

I have a very similar Whirlpool - 1969 model, same color, console light, six water levels, I believe it to be a Supreme 70 or an Imperial. I am running off to a 10am meeting, but when I get back I'll check my computer and see if I have any pictures to provide, otherwise I'll try to get one at lunch today. It's in working order, just needs TLC cleaning. It does not have the woodgrain panel.

I would love for you to have it if it would make you happy.

This is as-found. It's a Surpreme 70, and is in fairly nice condition, but it needs some cleaning and sprucing, stuff that I at least enjoy on something that I'm making mine....

If you're interested, please let me know. I'd love for the machine to find an appreciative owner.

OK, I'm very interested. Now the issue is, How am I going to get it to Hamilton, OH? How much do you want for it? It is my observation that Whirlpool has produced some vintage machines that have a variety colors and designs for the console panel. This model would be perfect to add to my collection. I have never seen one of these in person. The oldest Whirlpool that I have seen/have is from ~1975. When it gets warmer outside, I will take my machines out of my shed and introduce everyone to the machines that I have so far. They are not as old or interesting as some of the machines that the rest of you guys/gals have, but I will show you what I have.

Gordon, does the Supreme 70 of this vintage have the brush type filter?

The console lights on Whirlpools are great, especially the arched ones like the Imperial Mark XII pictured above.

Supremewhirlpol - I paid $40 for the washer on ebay last year. The person I got it for never picked it up. I'd like to recoup my investment, that's all. As for shipping, you may want to look at shipping options with Craters and Freighters, You Crate, or some individuals. Look at UShip.com - they have moved a number of items for me at a low price.

James - This machine has a self-cleaning filter IIRC. The Imperial Mark XII (top picture) is slated to become a club member's at some point next month or so. I presume we'll be learning more about that baby later this year. My source in Arizona has it stashed away with my name on it, and we're going to go out there on an adventure to grab it.

Looking for a Whirlpool Supreme 70 Washing Machine LWA7700W5

Hi: Last year I rebuilt my Whirlpool Supreme 70 Washing Machine with a new barrel drive assembly. I should have taken the outer tub out to check the center post and other seals. This year I removed the outer tub and found significant rust at the bottom of the center post. I would like to find a comparable Whirlpool Supreme with the Wig Way and belt drive and center post on the baseplate assembly for parts. Hopefully someone out there may have one with a bad transmission that can be used for parts. Andy cell phone (210) 771-1420

Rusty Baseplate, Centerpost, and Outer Tub

I have seen much worse, the base-plate can be stripped and painted in a variety of ways to save it, likewise with the center post if it is not too deeply pitted. If the CP is deeply pitted you can get a thin Stainless Tube sized to slide over the old rusty CP and weld it at the bottom and you will never have to worry about it rusting again.

 

The outer tub needs to be really striped and cleaned to assess what how to preserve and protect it, but again there are several ways to do this.

 

It may be possible to find better used parts, but unfortunately it is probably easier to just fix these since they are not beyond saving.
