50th anniversary in sinker 77 disposer

I remember this model it’s probably about 30 years old now, it was a commemorative model that was just sold for a while commemorating sinker building disposal for household use for 50 years.

It was the same as their regular 77. It’s a good disposal, however disposers like many things that deal with water aren’t meant to last forever.

If the unit is seized up, it most likely has water in the top bearing, you would need a new upper and bell for the motor the armature or rotor, you might replace the shredder rotor, which is the flat plate with the lugs on it to rebuild this disposal These parts are no longer available and even when they were, it wasn’t cost-effective to fix them when they seized up.

If somebody wanted to have the 50th anniversary disposer they could buy this and find a newer unit that was unused and use the outer housing I suppose

Thanks for posting this interesting historic compliance Richard
