Kelvinator A/C in post #5

Kelvinator A/C was never sold by Sears although this one is just a WCI Gibson machine and WCI did make a lot of A/Cs for the KM name.

You gotta love the cardboard sides, broken grill, no air-filter and the spliced power cord, this poor A/C is just screaming, recycle me into a Toyota, LOL.

Every summer we have news stories of house and apartment fires caused by air conditioners with faulty cords or being run on small extension cords. This looks like the principal character (or cause of ignition) in a coming story.

Whirlcool: Because the spaceman has a Pall Mall symbol on his chest uniform?

I can't believe what people consider ok to sell and photograph, although I give them credit ....
for photographing their unit's best side. ( ! )

Whirlcool : Does the sun rise in the East? :-) Actually, I chose a random photo - this wasn't their A/C but imagination runs wild in me and...well it LOOKED like it was the same unit, so ..just having fun with it.

I've seen worse condition a/c window units. Down in Galveston with all the salt air sometimes the exterior fins just fall off from all the salt in the air after just a few years. You gotta rinse them off almost weekly for them to last.

Like this? A friend of mine, who lives near Boynton Beach, but used to work and use his car near the ocean, found his car rusting out quicker than in Michigan, with the winters and road salt. I didn't think about exterior A/C's...washing them or treat them or just spray them off frequently....?

Jakins; if I'm not mistaken, that is a Fedders Pick-up air conditioner. Fairly rare, at least around here. I've always wanted to find one of those. I believe it was meant to compete against the GE Carry Cool.
