..had to post this ..it reminds me of Robert and Fred's stove (pink and yellow).

Ad reads:

I would guess that to be a 1955 model. It has two ovens and has the "Automatic Calrod" feature, so it would have likely had a Sensi-Temp. Hard to tell from the photos if the Sensi-Temp burner is still in tact, but it looks like it has all of its original knobs. It's not a 1956 model, as ours is -- this one doesn't have a meat thermomoter or an automatic griddle, which is what makes me think it's a year earlier.

It looks to be in great shape, no big chips.. and that yellow is super beautiful! It's a great range! Good luck!

I believe the style of the pointer in the center of the knob makes it no newer than 1954. Im pretty sure the style of the knob was changed in 55 to the solid black pointer. Its possible the knobs could have been changed at some point in time. Does your 56 have knobs with the black pointer?

Is your Range yellow? Ive never seen a yellow one in person. How would you describe it? A soft yellow?

I didn't realize that this design went back as far as '54. Yes, our '56 has the black pointers on the dials. You should take a look at the thread we posted a few months ago about our range dillemma! The yellow is fabulous.. "Sunny Yellow" It's a very warm color, and not at all close to being harvest gold. It's quite a lovely pastel shade of yellow, and from what I understand -- yellow is the rarest of all of the GE range colors.

For now, we decided to live with the Pink range -- especially after all of the work that we put into it. We're both warming up to the pink, but it's a much cooler color; gives the kitchen a completely different feel.  The yellow range is being stored in the gargage.

Your pink stove is perfect with the dishwasher; if you had a yellow matching dishwasher (in color at least) you could alternate pink and yellow, as you've heard enough times before. If I had the portables you have there, I would make a place under the sink (a hole) and just move those in and out and leave the basement for the permanent under-the-counter installs. Now I'm reaching beyond your interests, but..bottom line is ..your '56 is awesome.

I have a 54 in white which has the all metal knob. I got the orig owners booklet with it which had January 1954 written in it.

Checked out your thread concerning the yellow/pink debate. They both looked great in your kitchen. Im surprised to hear yellow is the most rare GE color. I would have thought Woodleaf Brown or Cadet Blue. IIRC I once read that Cadet Blue wasnt offered as long as the other colors were. I saw a refrigerator years ago on ebay in Cadet Blue. Ive never seen anything come up for sale in Woodleaf Brown.

Phil:  Now that the range is pink, we're going to paint the KitchenAid yellow! 

 

Ken:  Not realizing that this style of range went back to '54 -- I suppose I should qualify my statement about the yellow being rare, perhaps only for the 1956 model year.  I've never seen GE ranges in Cadet Blue or Woodtone Brown.. I don't doubt their existance.  Robert said that he's seen earlier ranges in brown.   

 

There was a 1955 or so GE Combination Refrigerator in Cadet Blue listed on the Craigslist locally oh, a year and a half ago, give or take.  I set up a time to go look at it, then when I called to confirm the appointment the next day, the guy had sold to someone who was able to get out there sooner than we were.  We were going to put in in the garage as our second fridge, but it didn't work out.  I may have saved a photo from the listing, I'd have to dig for it.

 

In a 1956 GE Product Man, all of the color codes that would have been on the model number tag are listed as follows (I assume this is a retroactive list):

 

WH - White

YE - Yellow

PK - Pink

SS - Stainless Steel

BL - Blue (Cadet)

GR - Turquoise

BR - Brown (Woodtone)

BC - Brushed Chrome

Fred, I don't get it - why are you painting the pink KA yellow if you decided on the pink stove?
I know, you just like it that way...well, when you're ready for the yellow stove again, if you go back to it,
you'll have to paint the KA pink again? LOL!

why are you painting the pink KA yellow if you decided on the pink stove?

Because in our kitchen the appliances aren't suppose to be the same color! That's sooooo overdone.

Did I get the name wrong? Always seems when it comes time for me to recall the name GE gave for their Brown I go back and forth between Wood Tone and Wood Leaf and always seem to get it wrong. I'll go back and correct the mistake.
