Priced to move - hope someone saves it - anything except the scrap yard!

Ad reads:

"...Must sell quickly, so priced to move Fully functional Fridgidaire Stove. This Custom Imperial was the top of the line stove in its time. Its dashboard is very similar to Lincoln, Cadillac or Chrylser "Imperial" of its day.

Please see pictures. I can no longer store for even a short time, so make me an offer and take it away.

e-mail reply or Mike @ 313-477-7888 (pick up or, I could even deliver a short distance!)

$65 must sell. This is nearly the price I would get to bring to scrap yard..."

1962 was the last year for the linear surface unit controls and 1961 was the only year for the linear Cookmaster controls on the clock which this does not have and the Time Signal (minute timer) is in the lower part of the clock instead of being a dial as big as the oven controls as it was in 1961. Also the front of the storage drawer is not the fluted aluminum panel like the 61. This is the end of the line for the most extravagant styling Frigidaire did on the free-standing ranges. The linear surface unit controls were first seen in 1956, so 7 years was a long run for that styling element. TOL GE & Westinghouse ranges were very good looking, but TOL Frigidaire ranges had a dramatic flair in this period. Frigidaire kept their tall narrow master ovens long after other electric range manufacturers went to a wide master oven and, while other TOL ranges came with glass windows in the master oven doors, Frigidaire showed their 40 inch ranges for many years with the solid doors even when the window door was available because, frankly, they looked better without it. It was not until maybe 1963 or 1964 that magazine ads showed the 40" Custom Imperial with a window in the oven door.

I really like this style! Frigidaire stopped offering 40" ranges (except Flairs) here after 1960.

I have the 30" version of this range which lost the linear surface unit controls two years before the 40" models. At least, the 1962 Custom Imperial got back the broiler grill control that had been missing on the previous year's 30" Custom Imperial model.

Even in the 30" versions, Frigidaire didn't offer a Glass window in it's Custom Imperial free standing ranges before 1962 (that's when they stopped making the French doors for the 30" Custom Imperial model)
