Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

With Out A Trace

On tonights episode was a scene where a kid was sitting on
a vintage Avocado Maytag and it looked like the Fockers
turquoise Bendix was in the same row. It was a fast scene,
I couldn't identfy any others, great, the day after this thread started!

Roseanne

I think Dan and Roseanne Connor had a set of harvest gold maytags on their back porch/laundry room. I also noticed the avocado green on That Seventies Show, Cybrvanr!
Thanks, NeptuneBob for taking me to Depeche Mode's Master and Servant, they are one of my favorite bands!

My Name is Earl - I've seen that WCI stack set a couple of weeks ago, Joy was doing laundry. They must have painted it coppertone to match the trailer. I've tried pausing and slow-mo to get a glimpse of the dishwasher in the kitchen, I think it's avocado but not sure what it is.

Roseanne - I think in the beginning of the show, they had a Frigidaire 1-18 with a missing timer knob on the washer. The Maytag set came a little later in the series. Roseanne's sister put a load of wash in it and used a pliers or vice grip to turn the timer. Don't forget the Poppy Frigidaire refrigerator in the kitchen! Much later in the series Dan bought Rosanne a GE Mobile Maid dishwasher - she was as thrilled as we all would have been...

Have you folks talked about this already?

Are we the only ones who are supposed to notice that in the weird "Dharma" hatch (supposedly set up in the Seventies) there's a brand new Whirlpool Duet pair? Is this supposed to be significant because I noticed them after Hurely mentioned that "the washer and dryer seem newer than everything else here"?

So somehow the Whirlpool people got to this stupid island before the plane crashed? Oy.
Are "the others" disgruntled Whirlpool repair people?

and how many of you actually know how to pronounce, "Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje"?

I can't believe you all missed the most obvious one....

HOME IMPROVEMENT...what appears to be a set of '68 Rollermatics, and then switched to White Westinghouse later in the episodes.

Oh yeah, almost forgot....

Yours, Mine and Ours (older one with Lucille Ball), she had what appears to be her own Maytag laundromat in the basement.

Maytags, beautiful maytags!!!

I actually have the movie that I picked up reciently. It looks as though she has two sets of 1968 Maytags. BTW, On Rosanne, they had gold ( sunburst yellow if you want to be technical) at first, and then later in the series, Gold Frigidaires.I had thougt that the Conners had given the Maytags to Jackie when she bought her house and they bought themselves another set????It is a thought`````right:)

And now for something completely different

There is a Monty Python episode where Mrs. Premise and Mrs. Conclusion (John Cleese and Graham Chapman) discuss "how to put your budgie down" in a laundromat full of turquoise Speed Queens--lots of top-loaders and one big dryer, brand name clearly visible.

Actually Roseanne's Maytag's were a color called Cal

which replaced Castillian Yellow approx. 1968......They also could have been Cordoba Copper or Spanish Avacado...as Maytag used Spanish/Latin names for its colors starting with the 06 series. PATRICK COFFEY

On The Parkers

Yeah,

So I was watching a newer episode of the Parkers on Monday and noticed on the later series, after MO'Nique and her annoing voiced daughter moved to a house...that off in the corner of the kitchen, by what appears to be a backdoor; there is a set of stacked Coppertone, or coffee colored, stacked front load White-Westinghouses. And...if you get a real close glimpse...the window is not really opaque as it should be, looks painted over.

It would be my guess that they are gutted and used primarily as a "prop" and much easier to use and move as such without all that Cement block weight that is common to their innards.

Anyone else see this?

Chad

Roseanne's washer and dryer

In the beginning, the Conners had Maytags. They got a "new" set of Frigidaires, with the timer knob missing on the washer and a set of pliers in place of it. When they were trying to sell the Maytags (no, Jackie didn't get them), a door to door salesman died in their kitchen. This is also the episode where Dan is repairing the Frigidaire refrig. I always thought it was poppy red, but in another thread, long ago, someone said it was Coppertone. I didn't disagree, but always thought it was too new to be Coppertone.....

Never understood what joy Samantha Stephens found in housework. Even being a witch and discovering how modern "mortal" housewives did it, the joy must have soon wore off. If one could snap one's fingers or twitch one's nose to get the housekeeping done, you'd pretty much have to burn me at the stake to prevent it! *LOL*

Now Jennie had the right idea, any time she was seen doing housework like hoovering, she was floating up in the air, reading while the hoover ran itself. Now THAT is what powers are about! *LOL*

Lucy Show Maytags

And don't forget in the Lucy Show episode "Lucy in the Department Store," Lucy and Mary Jane spot an avocado Maytag washer/dryer set that just has the push-button console and Lucy even looks into the washer! This episode aired in 1967 or 1968.

It was not a pushbutton set

both the washer and the dryer had dials an were in gleaming spanish avacodo....the sign above the washer called it the Washtrend Launderette and the sign above the dryer called it the Duchess Dryer...I remember that episode Lucy went to the store to look at fridges and Mary Jane came along to get a Juicer for a gift for someone but of course Lucy being Lucy ends up breaking a bunch of expensive dishes and the display they are on trying to see if the unbreakable dishes really are unbreakable as the sign advertised (she grabed the ones on the wrong side of the display the ones she grabbed were bone china and breakable as the flip side of the sign advertised) as well as breaking the door of the fridge she was looking at (which I believe might have been a Kelvinator but I am not sure)...I even remember the slogan for the juicer that Mary Jane bought..... " The Little Squeeze Juicer...Men surpise your wife, give her a Little Squeeze in the Kitchen." PATRICK COFFEY

Roseanne's GE Dishwasher

I just saw part of episode 10 of season 8 where they are making a tape for the new baby. That is doubly funny now when you consider how short a time video tapes were video storage media because the baby would not have been able to watch the tape for long before the tape stuck together or the machine broke and in that house, it seemed they watched a lot of videos.

Anyway, Becky and Darlene are sent out to the porch/storage area to get stuff they want before it is thrown away and next to the Frigidaire dryer is the gold dishwasher so it was kept out there and hauled in to load and run. Maybe they passed plates and saucers from the sink through the windows to load when there were just a few. Every chic kitchen had a pass through at one time or another; what if it is a jalousie window? I have never seen those windows closed.

How about the Brady family and.......

their avocado Whirlpool washer and Dryer? Especially after Bobby washed his Sunday Best and added a whole box of detergent!!!!
