Good article. We had friends who moved into a MCM house on the Sunset Hills-Crestwood border (between Watson and East Watson)...the entire subdivision had the wall-mount refrigerator. I remember being very impressed when I saw it in 1980...it was old then and I recall asking "what happens when it breaks"...the answer was that you then re-did the kitchen.
The Ladue subdivision mentioned in the article was recently discussed on a MCM St. Louis message board (BELTSTL,com,...very interesting article about the National Historic Register registration, including the registration paperwork It was a heavily Jewish area, with lots of MCM in a subdivision without deed restrictions in the early 50s on the edge of civilization in St. Louis County.
We live in a Nat'l Historic Register community here in Detroit, only in a 1920s colonial!
