Before this escalates to terrorist proportions please widen the lens of your view.
I have purchased something I found on my own in the past without any awareness and prompts from AWO, only to find out a few days later someone else had also spotted them, put them on AWO with the intent of going after them for themselves. I was not wrong in what I did as I had no knowledge of others intentions.
I have also been told on the phone I was the proud new owner of 906's in Iowa by one person but when I followed up AS I WAS INSTRUCTED TO by the seller in a couple of days for pick up, I was told they had already been sold to another person and they were being picked up in an hour. The bottom line is the other interested party called and got someone else than I had talked to who had no idea I was told they were mine. The person who purchased them was not my instant enemy, it certainly was not their fault. If any fault was to be placed it was with the estate sale company for poor communication but I lost zero sleep over this, let's not loose perspective that we are talking about stuff, material things, appliances and old ones at that-nothing life or death or matters of the heart here.
The other perspective is that treasures found on Ebay, Craigslist, estate sales or wherever are fair game. This site has what, 3000 members. I don't think there is a hard and fast rule that by listing it is the same as marking your territory, things come up people change their minds and all sorts of other things come into play so things go to either the highest bidder or those who get their first. If you were selling something on Ebay would you want 2999 people to stop bidding because one person said they would like to have that? Having said that, I am courteous of others and their wishes as they usually want the said object more than I do. One time I bid up a LK washer and dryer to from like $200 to $3500 as I was sure I would get them if I placed an outrageous max bid. I was bidding against only one other person who was a member of AWO. When I lost the bid I felt awful for loosing and even worse for bidding up the auction as we were the only bidders. He was cool and even shared the owners manuals with me to copy. Great guy, that is how we need to get along in the neighborhood!

When I ban someone after a year or so I sometimes give them another chance to learn to filter/behave if they rejoin out of the blue. If they are in working order, as stated. I'm going to hook them up and use them. I have been trying to chase set down for years, but I never see any for sale in driving distance. I sure do hope that they are in good condition; it looks like the previous owner had them hooked up and were using them.

I don't have a copy of the deleted post, so I don't know what was said that was interpreted as a personal thing. It couldn't possibly be personal because, unfortunately I don't know you.
All I can remember stating in my post was, IMO, when we circulate information about available machines, such as with the information on this estate sale, its in hopes that other collectors would get them and save them from being lost. We ourselves and maybe not other members we know may get them, but it's better than losing the machines to being junked or sold to someone who's not a collector. Junked machines would never get back on the market again. With collectors there is always the chance they will be displayed or sold again.

Oldskool- Sorry it didn't work out this time. Keep thinking positive. You may not see another set for a while and then, out of no where, one will show up. And within a short period of time, another. And they may not even cost anything. You need to be active and keep your eyes open. Don't give up.

I can feel my own heart beating on your past bid. First that you were willing to pay $3500 on a washer. Second on the disappointment of losing the auction. I've been there with not winning and know how that feels, though not at that price. I have to say, though, I've won many more times, than I've lost. It's a numbers game, I'm glad that the machines went to a member, and you were able to share in at least some of the spoils.
As far as numbers go and the points about new people lurking, or people only coming for advice to fix their immediate concern. It would seem if the membership rate were like $100+, it would screen those people out, but it would also screen out other members who would add things to the site, but whom are financially limited. And, just because people could afford to pay a higher membership fee, doesn't mean that they won't also be mere lurkers. It's a numbers game and trying to find the fine line.
About me and my past here at AW- Yes, I've been here before. Since about October (give or take a month) 2002, when AW was still learning to walk. In fact, in order to get onto the site then, there was a crank starter required on the side of one's monitor.
I've had several screen names over the years because at different times I was very active, and other times, I wan't. Yet I'm still here after all these years. Things have changed. In fact, I legally changed my name in 2006, and if you view some of the old posts, you'd see a different name.
My lack of attention to the site was not because of anyone or anything that happened on AW. Like everyone else, I have a personal life and personal issues. In the past, I was VERY rough on the edges in how I said things, and what I said, but I never intended there to be anything bad.
I wish there were a way to meld all the names together.....
I'm certainly AW member material. I have easily collected in excess of 250 major appliances plus at least 100 small appliances in my life. I started repairing/collecting at age 12. I've offered advice on repairing machines when I can. I show pictures of my collecting, and try and be as encouraging to people in their interests in appliances. What can I say, I'm part of a minority group of people who have this particular interest. But frankly, ANYONE who collects otherwise useless, insignificant, or impractical materialistic items; whether it's stamps, baseball caps, old license plates, or whatever.... we're all part of the same group.
I only want things to run smooth. If anyone ever feels as though I've said something insulting about them, please feel free to contact me and I will certainly work to resolve it. As I said the other day in the Imperial forum under Van full of appliances, I want everyone to be content and happy in what they are doing. The world is just better that way.

Yes, please do share pictures with us. We don't see these very often anymore. If you have any problems let us know. I have a great deal of experience in working on these because of my own. The threads on here show me having taken the whole thing apart at some point! Love these Rapidry Frigidaires!

I look very much forward to reading ALL you put forth,(even tho to a degree I lurk far more that contribute as in ones early years here); and am very much looking forward to more in the future. Your not being here would be a terrible blow to those whom appreciate, and love ones contributions to the fullest.
That said.
It's unfortunate that things did not work out for you John, and truth be told, the company holding the sale is truly the culprit. One should have had the moral decency to offer back said set to you first, but then again not all businesses subscribe to ethical/moral code. I have been in the vacuum collecting side of our family for 20 years, and can tell you that even there, things aren't always on the up and up in regards to getting what ones chasing after. That said, I learned long ago from a very close friend, and fellow collector tho..."Theres ALWAYS more to be had"...
I am glad that Robert moderated and brought things back to order as he usually does with dispatch and aplomb, even when it seems all will implode into smithereens.
And, to whomever was able to finally call this set ones own, one hopes that a sharing of pictures and video's will be offered once you have them in your home. The most important of end-all's of course...

They are very clean!!!
It looks like they were only used a few times. No rust anywhere, took the panel off of the bottom front and it all looks brand new, except a little dust build up. The washer is very quiet for what it is. I am going to try and get some pics up asap!! This is my first Frigidaire washer ever. My great grandma had one when I was a kid and I was always fascinated with it. With that being said, I would appreciate any advice you guys have on this machine.
