Beautiful Job!

Regarding pink tile, if anyone does plan on doing a tear-out, try to save those tiles, they can fetch a pretty penny for the right buyer and, obviously, have not been available in that hue for many years. I was fortunate that someone did just that and donated them to the nearest Restore. Only problem is, they're 4.25" square so they don't _quite_ lineup with any other tile I have.

The classic Pepper White is still being made and matches the original stuff pretty darn well.

I'm hoping my next issue of Atomic Ranch shows up and has some inspirational content before I make any decisions on tile. I really want to strike a happy medium between contemporary and mid-century but my partner is kind of bent on the giant 1' squares. The good thing about this job is that the whole bathroom is nothing worth saving. It was cheap and boring when first built so really anything we do in there is going to be a huge improvement even if it's totally modern. We live right by an elementary school and need to keep in mind that if we sell, it's likely going to be to a family with 2.5 kids or whatever so we tend not to go too wild with any "permanent" improvements. We jazz things up with the furniture, paint and window treatments instead.

The original toilet in our upstairs bathroom needs replacing or regutting, but I really think I might just replace it. It is plain white, with absolutely no pizazz whatsoever, and it's hard to keep clean because someone pitted the surface of the bowl with steel wool or something. I think it was the idiot who "flipped" the house.

I have considered trying something different and making the toilet one color, getting a sink of another color and keeping the original white tub and pink floor and shower enclosure tile, but I'm afraid it will look sad instead of cool.

(What I'd love to do is rip the whole thing out, and get rid of the tub, since we have never used it, and put in a big cool shower, but I get lectured about things like resale, blah blah blah ;-)

When we had the basement toilet room made into a 3/4 bathroom (which was something the builder here did a lot - everyone had just a toilet in their basement) the plumber replaced it with a very high-tech toilet that has a flush button for liquids and one for solids. Zowee! It's like a rocket taking off when you flush that thing! If we got a new toilet, that is what we'd get.
