I thought it would be fun to post old Christmas photos, if anyone has any. From left to right, this is my sister, cousin and me (red pants.) We're at our grandparents' farm near Muleshoe, TX. To the right, there's a doorway leading to the kitchen, where one could find a mid-1960s Frigidaire washer, white with the turquoise-ish instrument panel. LOVED IT!!! (Sorry that it didn't make it into the picture...ha!)

Speaking of Christmas, it's almost time to get out the vintage c6 mazda 8 light candoliers for the windows. Half the fun is hunting for the burned out bulbs! This year I'll be using the rare, hard to find pink bulbs in the front windows and white bulbs in the side windows.

xmas photo

I am on the left, and my older brother Greg is on the right. This must have been New Years Day. I see the drapes are open, and I remember they were always closed at night. I cannot recall this photo, but do remember my parents going out to parties, and bringing the noise makers back home for us. Wow, bet my dad hated all that on News Years Morning! lol!! Served him right! <:

vintage photos

You can see fromt this picture that my parents indulged my wishes for "girls" toys even in the late 50's. Wonder if they had any heated discussions over the choices??? (I can picture my Dad saying no, and my Mom winning.) However, seems as though it was a "mixed" gift-giving. Note the pedal car, cap pistols, boots, and toy lawnmower.....what you can't see is the pink wringer washer and iron/ironing board off to the side. I still have the cap pistols. I guess I wore out the other toys...lol. This was 1958, the year before my sister was born, and I was the only child at the time.....
(and btw...that is a Sylvania HaloLight TV...)

top loader

I think by 1965 I had the Santa thing figured out. I asked for and electric range and a washing machine. As an only child I'm sure my father had a stroke that I wanted such things; however as Mom usually did she prevailed and I got what I wanted. Now mind you Dad would'nt let me wash and cook in the house. I had to go to the back pourch for that...whatever!!! I remember the washer was a top loader...it had a crank on the side and a switch you could change from wash to spin. I washed and washed...I remember momma giving me wash rags to laundry. I cooked all kinds of things on my range. I think those were the only two toys I ever had that wore out..LOL!!! Now at age 45 I'm still waiting on the Easy Bake Oven!!! Maybe Santa will surprise me.

doll clothes

Yes, you see doll clothes. I think I got a doll every year for Christmas until I was 6....Betsy Wetsy, Tiny Tears...can't think of any of the other names. All of my family members who could tell me whether or not there was any "discussion" over those toys are no longer around, except for one older cousin. All she can remember is that I got nicer "girl" toys than she did, and that she and her brother (came out the year before I did..so it must be genetic) played with mine when they were visiting. As the years moved onward, I started getting more "boy" toys, including the "required" electric train and model road sets....but you can be sure that I practically wore out my sister's SuzyHomemaker washer when she got one.....lol
