The answer is no, not quite.
Its The EE Tumble Wash which was a semi-automatic version of the Liberator, which itself was based on the Westinghouse Spacemate.
Here is a little fun video I made a few years ago when I cam across the sound track for a tumblewash advert.
Semi-automatics never really caught on in this country, although substantially cheaper than their fully automatic companions (although quite why is a mystery as its really just the timer that's missing - I am inclined to think they were introduced to get folks into the shops where they could then up sold up to an automatic) and about the same price as a good twin tub.
But then automatics became cheaper which was the death knell for semi autos as the price differential did not justify the production cost of two product lines.

I remember that story line in Corrie. Hilda thought she was the queen bee as she was the only person in the street with a washing machine I think. Elsie Tanner made some joke about her putting the armchair through the wash and Stan and Eddie started taking in washing from the window cleaning round and doing it behind Hilda's back.

As I recall it, Hilda bought the washing machine second hand from Renee Bradshaw who owned the corner shop, next door to the Ogdens (later married to Alf Roberts which is how he came to get the shop) when she got a new one.
Here are husband Stan and lodger Eddie Yeates (yes, the actor did play Onslow from Keeping Up Appearances 20 years later) up to their customary dodges - the machine appears towards the end of the clip
