Actually over here...I could hear many people remembering older detergents as something better in terms of washing also...
And would kill to have some..
Italians, over 50 years old, dearly remember their mothers washing with Tide and Mira Lanza products, they often talks about the delicate scent of them, especially the Tide scent and how it washed so white and so good compared to today's stuff, youngers, I mean 15-20 at the time remember it also for it's strenght to clean the grease on their Vespa or Lambretta motorcycles and still says that in modern days there is nothing that equals Tide for such matters ( about 60 years old people), and for the more youngers at the time the fact that in every box there was a small gift, so they were all next the wash tub or washers helping their mothers to finally have the gift after the job was done as a prize for the help, they gifts were especially disney characters, and most of all the scoped "smoking-man"- "omino che fuma" a plastic man that would smoke long lasting small wax.made cigarettes, you would light the wax and he would smoke them...
Such thing today would be considered "outlaw"! As ineducative! But in the past was much fun for kids!
Anyway, the same way Dixan followed the fashion, and Miralanza too used to pack cards with characters in every package, cards also meant points, and if you had enough of them collected you could win items for the home after you reached a certain number of points such as pans, toasters, blenders, china etc....
Anyway....maybe it is not so in the other countries, but here, not only collectors, but also others would purchase them to use them....
I can see lots of people saying also that Dash that was sold in the 60s and 70s was better than now....
There're really lots of people out here that would buy them, for a remember, but they also would use it if well conserved...
Over here on ebay they keep selling older boxes for dear prices, so someone must buy them!
Maybe elsewhere is different..I don't know..
I think in the modern days if P&G would re-introduce the Tide brand in Italy that would be a success, it was wthdrawn because of a bad advertisement that let people intend it contained chlorine when it actually didn't, but now old people that would thnk that are almsot all died or "dumb", there're only generations that have a sweet remember of it and of their childhood...
Anyway returning to the speech of old detergents, me personally never had the need to use them in combination with anything for the most, both american or european ones..
But that's true a few products I used needed a boost, perborate or more enzymes..but the same is today..isn't it?
Conservation condition also plays an important role... I could use different packages of Biol that performed very differently one to the other because got humid..and bad conserved.
I loved yet my other Dash bucket I got recently, I used it in the Servis (even if with the spinner that is kaput) and I got wonderful results, and it was the prior version, when it didn't contain perboratex (and infact it was the first that came out and infact it states it's a sample box for appliance shops given for the purchase of washer..will post pics later) ...but it was able to give dazzling whites and remove "bleachable" stains just the same way the modern does and IMO better than others famous or less famous you can find today...
After all their motto is always been "Dash più bianco non si può"---"The whitest you can reach"...
Tide also was known for giving dazzling whites...
Who knows.....
