Vintage Early Stainless Steel KitchenAid Hobart Stand Mixer Model "K" w/ Whisk. I have never seen one this old in Chrome or as the ad says Stainless Steel. Nice mixer but hefty price!

I read that when Hobart designed their first smaller mixer, an executive brought one home for his wife to try. He asked her about it sometime later and she said that it was the best kitchen aid she had ever used and thus was born the name.

I've never seen a model "K" until this one. It eventually evolved into the K4. NOT to be confused with a 4C.

I can't tell for sure, but it looks like it was either painted that color or stripped of its original paint, but being an early model it may have had no paint at all.

I Have Been Campaigning....

....For several years to get eBay to require the correct use of the term "Stainless Steel." Present-day sellers associate anything vaguely shiny-silvery with the current "stainless look" and think either the item must be stainless or that it's okay to call it that, which it's not.

The term "Stainless Steel" applies legally (Federal law) to certain alloys of steel, chromium and nickel, not aluminum, chrome-plate, silver vacuum-plated plastic, silverplate or pewter - all of which I've seen listed as "Stainless Steel" on eBay at some point.

It's really kind of a dismal situation.
