Hi everyone, I’m hoping for some guidance here.

I purchased a 1946 cottage last summer, and it came with this beautiful oven. I love it and want to keep it- but the preheat function seems stuck?

If I turn on the bottom oven to 150, 200, 300 etc… it just gets hotter and hotter and never stops heating until I shut it off. Any suggestions for what I should look at?

Also, it’s a double oven, but only the bottom oven seems to work now- when we first used it, both worked- but then we moved it across the kitchen and the top oven stopped working. I’ve jiggled all I can, played around with the timer functions etc.

No idea as well what model this is. My label says RO-60C2

Mid 1950s Frigidaire

Maybe it's the top heating element in the oven that has stopped working.  If the elements are open coil nichrome, there's likely a break in the top one.  It shouldn't be a big deal to pull out the element and examine it.  You can have a new one made, but you'd have to bring the old one in to an appliance parts retailer to match it up.  A replacement would likely be the radiant tube type instead of the open coil.  If you want to keep things original, you could buy some coiled nichrome with the proper specs and weave it through the insulators yourself.

The overheating issue is probably a bad thermostat.  Others here will have to advise on repair or replacement options for that.

Frigidaire wonder oven

It sounds like you have at least one bad oven thermostat.

You should be able to use the other oven thermostat was the upper oven or the complete oven that worked properly before.

You have to move the bake element up and put a separator in to use it has two ovens or you can remove the separator and use it as one larger oven do you have the instructions for the stove it’s a little bit confusing.

So a few updates- separator is in (yes it’s a wonder oven)

The top oven knobs light up so it looks like it’s working, but no heat.

I moved the wonder separator to the bottom now, not sure if I use “bottom knob” or “top knob” so trying both. Not seeming to get any heat whatsoever

Other things to try?

Thank you everyone, I will check the fuses tomorrow. And where do I find the thermostat? On the back of the stove or access from unscrewing where the temperature control knob is?
