when I got the idea to get a wringer washer 7 years ago. a lady I know had a few in her antique barn. none of them wrk. however there was one that I remembered that was a bit different than the wringer machines.at the time I didn't know anything at all about vintage washers. the one machine was a ge with a spinner in one part and the wash tub in another. I tried plugging it in and all it did was hum. and smell hot. I was doing a little digging about twin tubs the other day and I saw a thread about the old ge twinnys. are they rare? the lady I know since closed the antique barn however the stuff in still in state. I am going over to look at the old ge tomorrow. can you guys advise as per parts availability and function. I would greatly appreciate it. thanks Bill

GE and a few others such as Norge and Westinghouse

Did have twin-tub washers prior to WWII, but GE at least ceased production before that event and concentrated on automatic washing machines.

You *might* find parts from the usual sources (fleaPay, old appliance stores, etc..). That and or if anything modern will suit as a replacement.

Oh my

If I had the chance I would snag that in a second. Then think parts. Old motors get gummy and
who knows what built a nest in it or chewed on what. anything could cause that hot burning smell.
very rare indeed.
I found a pics on an old thread. Hope it loads correctly General Electric TwinTub for sale
