The new-to-me beaters are the right shaft length, and they are open at the business end (no shaft down the middle between the 4 beater blades).

Another good performer but not quite as durable as the GE. These mixers tend to strip gears when mixing cold butter or lumps of brown sugar. Over time the windings loosen but all that said, a normal user would never have issues unbless it was the only mixer in the house. This model was also made as a stand model and in later years Scoville sold it with a bread hook.

Well, Kelly, I think many normal users in years gone by had only one hand mixer. My mother, for example, only had a single hand mixer to handle all mixing needs for many years. Plus very limited selection of other small appliances.
It is her lunatic son, better known here as Lord Kenmore, who insists on having countless small appliances, including a full shelf of coffee pots!

This is only a guess...
but I think the style of Hamilton-Beach mixer (with plastic case/cabinet) shown above might also have been sold by Sears. At least, I've seen Sears mixers with plastic cases that look very similar. From what I know they had other companies do the actual manufacturing of small appliances. (Just like big appliances!)

Sears Clone
Through the 70's Hamilton Beach made hand mixers for Sears. LordK you have supported my opinion. I know lots of houses had only a hand mixer and if their only hand mixer was a Hamilton Beach of this design it might fail sooner than another brand. For us on this site having collections, some of them are never used.

We were a 1 mixer household too
Mom had a Jane Jetson GE forever until she finally burned it up mixing Italian Wedding Cookie ("Pizzelle") Batter. That was a sad day.

Mom's mixers
My mom got a Sunbeam mixmaster in 1958 when she married. It never failed. Well, except for that little rubber thingy on the bottom of the beater that moves the bowl. It fell off in the batter and someone ate it but we don't know who. However she did get a small green and white GE portable mixer in about 1970 after I went to Dad and said "Mom needs new appliances!" He bought her a GE mixer and a GE coffeemaker to replace the Sunbeam vacuum coffeemaker that she hated (too messy). Sorry Sunbeam fans.
Well that little GE mixer plowed through everything for decades. I still have it but just keep it for sentimental reasons.

I have the Sears version of that same HB 12-speed with cabinet. It's obvious that the manufacturer is the same.
I recently came across a 5-speed HB also with cabinet, barely used and with all of its literature. Instead of simulated wood door, it had a more classic 70's motif in avocado and harvest gold with orange-red line drawings of kitchen items like salt & pepper shakers, coffee pots, etc on the door. I gave it to Nate to go with the avocado & harvest HB electric knife in wall-mount cabinet that he was already displaying in his kitchen.

Is considered to be one of the best governor controlled hand mixers ever made. the JC Penney/MW clone offered it with a storage cabinet that stored the beaters and cord inside and the mixer hung on the hinged cover. It was very popular back in the Avocado and Harvest Gold era. It was faster at whipping than the GE Speed Control model and a little less noisy too. Sunbeam never offered that model in chrome as far as I know. It was available in white, avocado, harvest, and almond. Today it is difficult to find a good handheld mixer that is powerful, durable and quiet. Anyone have a Viking portable mixer? Seen pictures but they are pricy!
