Free roll of paper towels as well...

I wouldn't count on it it unless they forget to remove it before sending it off to the new owner.

What did the Permanent Press speed button do?  Fast/Slow?

Those space saving hoses are like new, and I'm getting a low mileage impression from the pictures.

A408 is a Fabric-Matic model, one speed.  The buttons change the timer circuitry for different function on some of the increments.  Delicate has intermittent agitation (some increments have the motor off).  Not sure what Perm Press does, someone else can probably provide those details.

Maytag, LA408 up for auction

This could be a new washer, it was definitely in a showroom from a Maytag dealer because they did not come with the heavy duty sticker, that was a sales gimmick. Maytag came up with in the 70s because they were getting beat up over the fact that their washers did not say heavy duty on them.

Our Maytag sales rep showed up one day with the stickers and went around the show room and put them on all the Maytag display machines, L O L

After the stickers are on the machines, I had a lady coming in to buy a Maytag washer and she said I don’t wanna heavy duty one. I just want a regular one, I tried to explain that it was the exact same washer, but she was afraid of heavy duty machine might make more noise or something, L O L.

I recall a customer years ago at the Whirlpool dealer for a new machine.  She said I don't want a heavy duty (which I thought odd being that the family was farmers/ranchers).  Ted advised that they're all the same, whether or not labeled heavy duty.

An Ill-Advised and Blatant Afterthought

All other "Heavy Duty" Maytags I've seen pictures of have had the sticker on the console.   I think the placement of the sticker on the subject washer is better, but no sticker at all is the best option.
