Selling

I just have to add my $.02 worth on this.

I have a former neighbor here who put her and her sister on ebay: The title (in length) : Bald heads for sell: 2 Good looking sisters will shave their head and put an advertising tattoo (permanent) for one year.

I thought the good looking part was a little extreme. Neither one of them were THAT attractive. IMHO

It got local NBC coverage, newspaper coverage.

All *Betty & Wilma* wanted was at least 50K to get out of debt.

I think about 2 weeks later, another woman sold a space on her forehead, got about 35K or so for it.

*Betty & Wilma* had NO bidders! LOL

PS: Good luck!

Hoover 913

Hi all,
I am newbie, from Alabama. I have found a Hoover 913 at a local thrift store, but I am not sure how much I should pay for one. It works, has scratches on the top and is missing the light lens. Any advise would be appreciated.

most didnt have a lens, only a black rubber guard around the light opening. if you are planning on making money off of it, it better look nice with a genuine Hoover bag. it hard to say what you should pay. unless i saw one with a very nice HOOVER bag and nice black HOOVER cord i would only pay about 20 bucks max. if you have your heart set on profit, there is one thing to know, ebay is a GAMBLE. good luck. David

Bluuies, I agree with David, but 913s are just fine machines. And rare. Grab it and repair/restore it. I have two and love them. Even if it's toast, hold on to it for parts.

Thanks guys for the advice. They want $20 for it. The bag is a hoover, but some damaged at the bottom of it. Has some larger scratches on the hood, not sure if they will come out. The suction seems great. Have to think about it I guess. Sometimes you snooze, you lose.

Exactly!! If I saw a 913 at a thrift store for $20, I would have already disappeared with it; when you snooze, 99.9% of the time you DO lose--and I've learned the hard way!

Jeff, that model 90 looks fantastic, as do your other commercial machines!! Does the Hoover Historical Center have a working Model O on display along with the others?

Interesting information about the P/N-equipped Quik-Broom as well; you'd think Hoover would have priced it a little less than their entry-level Convertible in order to compete effectively with the others. Needless to say I would LOVE to find one of those!! It would be a perfect match with myself, considering how I change bags quite frequently...;-)

model O

Yes Austin there is a working model O in the HHC, its quite an amazing machine and fun to play with.
The attached pic is myself, Fred, and Tom(myhooverco) taken a year ago when the three of us were helping the curator re-arrange some stuff.
I'm holding the "good" model O thats kept in a locked case, and Fred is holding the one that runs.
It weighs 40 pounds, its just beastly to push!

Thanks for posting the pics of the model O's Jeff! That was some day wasn't it? I had the privilege of taking home the model O on the right and cleaning it up. I made a bag for it and the Hoover Historical Center had an extra handle. I had a good time pushing it around my house before taking it back to the museum! When it arrived it was just the base. It was strapped to a piece of particle board with about 50 feet of steel wire! It runs beautifully and has lots of airflow. Too bad those front wheels are at the ends of the brushroll though...it has a hard time beating as it sweeps as it cleans. Again great picture Jeff!!!
