I think you are right pulltostart. Many years ago I did some work in a "had been upscale" mobile home park and all the kitchens and baths had colored fixtures and appliances. Almost all had a pink, blue or other color. Most all of the gas stoves were either a Dixie or Magic Chef. Too bad we couldnt see the oven knob and if it was red, we would know it was a Magic Chef.

Brown- Magic Chef and Dixie!

All were made in Cleveland Tenn, along with Hardwick, I have seen all in mobile homes, they must have gone in together and really cut the mobile home manufacturers a deal!!

You're right norgeway

I had a "camp or cottage" I had bought and a guy I worked with bought a brand new mobile home that came with a Brown avacado countertop gas cooktop and wall oven. His wife would not let gas be hooked up and I swapped him a Kenmore electric I had. Long story short, I installed them and testing them first time everything seemed fine. All of a sudden, the oven door blew open and broiler flew out and I could see fire in the cavity. Shut gas supply off and discovered factory did not connect the oven burner tight. Worked perfect after that. But scared the crap out of me.

John has a neat story about a neighbor who was positive that her gas stove had a pilot light until she was picking herself up off the floor across the kitchen from the stove, which was replaced with an electric stove the next day.
