Vintage KitchenAid dishwasher in Cascade commercial

Hi guys, and girls,

First time I see this old commercial on YouTube.

It seems like a pretty old KitchenAid dishwasher, probably mid 60's.

Is the washing action simulated, or is it real? The water does not seem to move around too much.

I like how clear the image is. Usually, the picture quality is more grainy.

I love how she fails to close the main wash detergent dispenser flap.  And I love nothing happens when she latches the door and pushes the start button.  Not one glimmer of noise.

Back from the days when you had only 1 choice. If you wanted Cascade, this is what you got. No variants, just the plain product. If you wanted to use Electrosol, that's what you got. No choices as to what variant you really need.

I love the video "inside the KDS 15". Would be great if the camera could pull back a little, so we can see both racks. And with a full load inside too.

Cool vintage dishwasher

That is a neat KA. Back in the days when machines had power. They did more than just pee on your dishes for two hours like many of todays machines do.

Anyone remember, "Dishwasher All" ?

That's what my mom usually bought. If I remember correctly it was in a blue box and the detergent powder I think may have blue as well. It had a distinctive smell, a clean pleasant smell but not overpowering. My mom seemed to like it better than Cascade.

There weren't too many dishwasher detergent ads in those days (1960's). Dishwasher All did had one and called itself "The Stripper." as it supposedly stripped away spots.

I do remember SOS auto dishwasher detergent for a bit. I don't think it lasted very long though.

That's a great ad, Chach. I have never seen a picture of DW All that old. It even has Monsanto name on it. No clue that Monsanto made deetergent. Wow. Thanks for posting it.

No I am not quite that old, ha. The ad I remember was on TV in the late sixties.

Who makes All products now, Lever Brothers maybe??

Interesting...All was a Monsanto product until the late 50s, when they needed to spin it off to a company with a broader consumer product line; and Lever was the logical purchaser...somewhat akin to what Dow did in the mid 90s when they spun Ziploc/Cleaners off to Johnson's Wax

Would blast of the most burned on mess that can be imagined...the junk made today dosent even come close, as with clothes, you have to have water to wash with!!

Then as now Monsanto is great at coming up with chemical concoctions, it is the sales and marketing to domestic consumers they cannot be bothered. That is one of the reasons they sold off All detergent to Lever Bros, which after a nasty anti-trust battle (LB won) went through.

IIRC from reading various Monsanto patents on line the same "low" or "controlled" froth properties wanted for All detergent was what is needed for automatic dishwashers. So after developing a low froth laundry product it seemed natural to go after the dishwashing market.

All laundry detergent was saved by being nabbed by Lever Bros, don't think anyone wanted the dishwasher version.

Ah the days

of phosphates, HOT water, and LOTS of it. Result? Clean dishes and it didn't take 3 hours to do a load either.
