Vintage Lady Kenmore combo unit

Oddly enough this one came in as a haul away. I have to replace the lint filter to pump hose, and it needs a dryer blower belt as well as a pump belt. Before I broke the hose I did get it to turn on, let water in and watch it agitate.

It's fun that they used the 63 LK 800 console for this one, which is a 65? I believe that console was only used on the 63 and then changed to another configuration in 64. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Jim, our neighbor had to replace her 33" LK gas combo in due to a hole being burned into a major component with another gas LK combo in like late 1964 or sometime in 1965.  Instead of the buttons having a silver/metallic facia appearance, they were white and had wisps of various pastel colors under the cycle word lettering.  All the same descriptions for cycles on the buttons until the last version, which changed the Super Wash to an Enzyme Soak.  That same Enzyme Soak timer was used for the Wrinkle Guard feature with its periodic tumbling.

It’s still in my service room, but I need to find that hose and some belts. Anyone on here with a parts diagram or know part numbers? Better yet, anyone with parts?

Aside from some basic surface rust this is in good condition.

Model is still listed on Sears Parts Direct, though the diagram numbers are hard to read. I had a 1967 Kenmore combo at one time...wish I had kept it, but parts were unavailable even then ( 20+ years ago).

These are great machines but certain repairs can be a challenge if you are not familiar with how they work and how to service them.

 

The biggest challenge you will have in fixing this machine is a lack of parts.

 

We have about a dozen of these combos and four that are hooked up and running well.

 

One of these years we are going to do a rebuild-a-thon and rebuild around 6 more of them, I will let AW folks know when we are going to do this.

 

Hi Eugene, even though you are unlikely to get this machine fully functional please don't throw it away as there may be some parts that can be used to save other machines.

Parts will be my limiting factor. From a technical standpoint this washer is complicated by washing machine standards, but after working on a few multi million dollar food packaging equipment, and rebuilding a few car engines I think I can figure it out.

Wow, this is quite the find. Not sure if this is of much help, but here are a few shots of the '61 Whirlpool combo parts list from the 1962 Parts Master book. It isn't everything but does breakdown the majority of parts and you can scale as needed.

Robert also has the '61 Whirlpool Combo service manual on AE in case you wanted a reference to go off of that would be close to your '65 Kenmore. John would know more of the changes that took place between '61 and '65-'67, but it's better than nothing.
