I've never seen one of these.  It looks like it was made to be built in, but its quite small so maybe it's out of a trailer.  More pictures in the listing.

Yes I think you are correct, it looks like the one in my friend's 1949 Airstream trailer, it still works and that is a pushbutton latch release.
