Potential buyers - get a close up photo of the metal spline before buying. The lip needs to be intact that holds the spline under the stop ring. Otherwise, if it is smooth the agitator will ride up the shaft during wash.
I have a round with red trim Maytag wringer with the same black agitator. Something seized up in the transmission and I have no intention of tearing it apart. Overall in good shape though and I'll give it to anyone that wants to come get it.
Yes Thanks Ben, also check the vertical splines compared to a new spline, these older aluminum splines often got very worn and you would loose some of the agitation stroke.
