Maytag Washer and Dryer Matching Set - $160 (FM78 & Foster Rd, near Kirby) :

"Updating appliances and need to sell this matched set of Maytag washer and dryer. These are older models, but are very clean and in working condition. They are currently still hooked up, but will be disconnected within a few days to make room for the new set. They're a dark yellow color. As most know, these older machines are workhorses and rarely have problems. Email, call, or text if interested."

Vintage 806 Maytag Washer & Gas Dryer Mid Century Chocolate

$

ad: "This beautiful, retro, vintage, chocolate brown, original Maytag washer dryer set will take you right back to the middle of the 20th century! The set belonged to my father and he took great care of them. They are in excellent condition. The only thing they need is two new fluorescent bulbs that illuminate the backsplash on each machine. However, these bulbs in no way effect the function of the washer and dryer.
Dimensions:
washer: 25.5" wide
gas dryer: 28.25" wide
The dryer model is CD G 806 and I couldn't find the model number on the washer. "

That Coppertone set in reply 48 is sure nice, but the 600 dollar price tag is a bit much for the market. It's interesting that the agitator has the chrome lint filter on it. I thought those had gone away before machines with gold panels came along, so either I'm wrong, or someone upgraded their lint filter.

Update - Holy vintage Maytag's Batman, how did I overlook this? This dryer is a CDG806, yet it has the gold trim. I believe that makes this a rather rare unit, as the 06 dryers with gold trim were only produced for a short time before being  superseded by their 08 series counterparts. There just aren't that many of these guys out there. I sincerely hope this set will be rescued by someone.

I agree with you, David. I think these machines have been updated. Check out thread number 22010 from Ben (swestoyz) in Waterloo. There's a bunch of things that don't fit. The chrome trim along the front with the gold paint on the control panel and the aluminum dial with the copper colored cabinets? I wouldn't be surprised if that washer has a tub light too. And check out the water level switch. Small, Medium, Normal, and Large.

If the pic of the tub opening was bigger I'd bet we'd see a timed bleach dispenser on the right side. These machines are original series pre January 1975 and have been updated. I'd almost place money on it. Now if he only did as good of a job taking care of the underneath. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a Maytag repair man or a collector. Those machines could be in excellent condition.

Appliance forensics. Isn't it fun. Lol.

That's an early Dependable Care with the non-monochromatic white panel.  They are TOL or next to TOL, depending upon where these were bought.  Except for the white panel, this was the exact set my mom had as her last washer & dryer.  I've only seen one other black/brown faced DC panel washer or dryer.

appnut: I have never seen these in my passings on CL; I thought they looked kind of TOL, so thanks for commenting ..nice washer and dryer, then. Thanks for commenting, as I was curious about those.

Phil, the dryer is electronic dry control with 3 temps.  Air fluff is a part of extended Press Care section, just turn the signal off.  Signal is off or on, not variable like mine.  The washer is 2 speed combo, variable water level, Perm Press, Regular, and extended soak and pre wash, extra rinse option on regular cycle, and 4 temps of H/C; W/W; W/C; & C/C.  There is an energy saver switch next to the 2nd rinse switch that mixes a bit of cold water to cool down the hot and warm slightly.
