WOW Jason, CONGRATS!!! Those look awesome and what a GREAT price! I look forward to seeing better photos and hearing about their condition.
The washer is a 142 and the dryer probably a 641C (240V)? As for the year, based on the large piece of stainless (?) trim at the top of the front panel, They are 1960, I have the same set in pink.

That does look like a nice set - as Sandy mentioned, there is something about a Maytag in white... So elegant.

I will be picking them up on Wednesday after my meeting in Scarborough Maine. It's about a 2 hour drive, (Berlin, NH) but worth it. I spoke with the owner (named Richard) this morning and the story is: He purchases houses and then flips them. This one house was owned by an elderly woman in her 90's. He said that walking into her house was like a time capsule. The house was decorated in early 1960's with no type of wear and tear. The family sold the house as is, so he got everything in the house. He did test the washer and the only thing that he noticed was that the timer sticks. The dryer works but lots of dust came out of it but it did heat up. He did say another person called about the pair, but the number she gave was incorrect. He asked me if I was a collector. I said no. (I think he wanted to increase the price) Anyway, I have first "dibs." I hope to have pics by the end of this week.

That wide dryer cabinet is a hold over from the days when Maytag's dryer got check-rated by CU. Before HOH, it had an enormous perforated gray porcelain drum with red plastic baffles. I love the look of the "child-killer" door latch. I wish they had kept it as the door handle when they went to the magnetic closure.
My "Baby Maytag" is the BOL time fill model of that run. She might look plain, but with a two speed motor installed when the original one died along with the 50 cycle pulley and belt kit and a black Power Fin agitator, she is like one of those unassuming dragsters that will wipe up the track with all comers. She accelerates up to spin speed so fast that I had to seal the drain openings in the tub cover because water was being forced out of them during the spin/drain.

I'm a little pissed because the center plastic piece for some reason "popped off." My partner Dave thinks that the pressure difference could of caused it to come off. We were up at least 2000 feet crossing over the white mountains of NH. I hope I can find a replacement.

I don't think this is the original agitator that came with the washer. My mother's had a black one with a metal lint strainer.

You can easily replace the dryer cord. And the agitator was definitely replaced. They were all black back in those days. Some had filters, some didn't. They must get brittle and break with age. Probably why we see so many pre-1966 Maytag wringers with the turquoise agitators. My Mom's A502 was like yours except no light. Hers was new in March, 1965. So I think the upgraded models had light AND the filter agitator. The lower down model 2 speeds had no light and a non-filter agitator. Does the agitator come out easily? We'll all be interested to see how they test out!

Gosh Jason, You found those in that nice condition in our somewhat neck of the woods. Hope they work perfect for you with little work. I love my old Maytags. They are dependable every time.

If I'm reading my sheet correctly, the washer was built in December '59. Also, the little "center cap" for the timer knob is copper-ish colored aluminum, not plastic. I agree, Combo52 may have one laying around.
Yes the agitator has been replaced. It would have had the stainless lint filter as well. A couple years ago I did buy a black plastic replacement agitator off of fleabay, but it was a different type of plastic, not bakelite.

Thank you Kevin for the month and date. I was trying to figure it out with no luck. Yes, the cap was copperish color. I will contact Combo52 to see if he has one and if I can purchase it.
