1955, not '56. Have the very same model. There were 2 models of the 2 door for this year. This is the nicer of the 2 since the door shelves have the optional chrome trim and 3 ice tray shelves vs just 2.

Our next door neighbors had the bottom freezer version of this one.  As a little kid, it seemed like a behemoth to me, and I dug the foot pedal for the freezer.

 

They moved into that house in 1953.  I don't know if this style dates back that far, though.
