Any recommendations on whether it's best to leave a 60's Frost Proof fridge in original configuration (2-prong, non-polarised) vs. updating to 3-prong grounded? I believe in the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" adage…however, would still like to err on the safety/modern/updated side. Have any of you done this? The existing cord is aged enough to where brittleness is setting in--it'd be easy enough to just replace it with a new OEM style 2-prong, but I have to wonder what's involved in updating to the modern grounded 3-prong, considering things like fans, lights, heaters being part of the circuitry….

I've done it................

With my "56 Hotpoint fridge/freezer combo. You should definitely ground your appliance. All you have to do is run your ground wire to chassis.
