Stamp Your Hoof, Trigger:

Dave:

Evidently the passing years are undermining my ability to count- there are four lines on the freezer door, not three.

A 1950's Aussie STC

I recently found on Ebay the same fridge my Grandparents had, from 1953 through until 1992. Mine is 8.7 Cubic feet and is smaller and slightly less deluxe than theirs was, but is still working as it should. The cover on the start relay is cracked and half missing and for safety reasons I really should try and find a new one, but it chuggs away every time I need additional space and looks just as cute now, as I remember growing up.
The picture is from around 1983.

the local marina is closing down for remodeling. There are a number of vintage refrigerators there that people used for storage. If anyone wants a project or parts fridge that may be an option. I'll try and go down there and take some pictures later in the week.

I took some pics of my 1955 Frigidaire Cycla-Matic. It works but I have it unplugged for now. It needs paint and a general cleaning. It is only missing one shelf and the little shelf that covers one of the drawers.

That is a cool Frigidare. There was one just like it back in Fredericksburg at the thrift shop about a year ago along with an earlier 50's G.E.. I tried everyway I knew how to try and get the Frigidare,, alas it went to another owner (I hope they are enjoying it. It was a beautiful unit, inside and out. The G.E. was nice too, however it was smaller, I hope someone is enjoying both of them.

I also saw a 40's hotpoint at the thrift shop one time. That was cool too. I wish that these vintage fridges would show up more often (when I have ways to get them!)

Another Servel accessory: A salesman's miniature Servel fridge. The fridge door opens and the picture cards (cards shown at the left in the picture below) slide into the top to show various foods being stored inside - gives the buyer a visual of how much the fridge can hold. There are several cards showing different foodstuffs and shelf layouts.

It is a very interesting toy. There is even an ampule of colored alcohol (?) and glass tubing. You can hold a match to it and it sort of replicates the flow of gasses in the fridge. It is visilble when the door is open and no picture cards are placed in the fridge.

classiccaprice fridges and Servel Miniature

Love that Servel Miniature !

classiccaprice - That would be great if you could post pics of those fridges from the Marina - I am not too far from there.
Thanks !
