Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Detroit has a good supply of these old appliances. Sadly, many of them have gone to landfills and scrap yards over the past 35 years. In 1955, Detroit (the city itself) had almost 2 million residents. Today, it has under 800,000. More the half the homes, apartments, etc. have been torn down, burned down, stripped or otherwise destroyed. Currently, the city of Detroit has 85,000 structures (most of them homes) on the demolition list. There were a lot of appliances in those homes!

Even with that, there are a lot of old appliances here...so put Detroit on your destination list ;-)

The first stove listed is quite stunning, and a gas Kenmore to boot.  I love the griddle, and broiler drawer as well as all the covers.
