Tappan Doughboy from 1949

Three family members had three gas models of this series. All models had three sizes of cooktop burners. The right front was the largest, the left front was slightly smaller that the two rear burners were slightly smaller surrounded with heavy chrome plated drip pans. My grandmother had a basic model, having a clock and timer. An aunt had model similar to the one pictured in the CL ad. In the right storage compartment there were two salt and pepper shakers that fit into a compartment next to the oven controls. A great aunt had the top of the line model having the same fancy oven and broiler handles, the oven was stainless lined, the trim rings around the burner controls were chrome plated and there was a convenience outlet in the backsplash. Also there was a foot petal to actuate a release for the broiler drawer having a stainless broiling grid. The basic model had no petal, the same broiler pieces and were finished in porcelain. The great aunt's stove was lost in hurricane Rita, The aunts stove was sold with her house after her death 3 yrs ago and my mother is cooking on her mother's stove since 1960 when they gave her the stove when my grand parents built a new all electric home in 1959. I have never seen any instruction/recipe books for any of these ranges. I have seen a couple of electric versions of these ranges for sale in CL before as well.

These are such beautiful stoves... I would love to find a nice electric one! The coolest one to find would be the top of the line with the gold trim and lighting on the dash.
