Got this old tool today but don't know what it is, hoping someone out there does. It is fairly light, so it isn't steel. I thought it was for honing or polishing but it doesn't have those types of marks on it. Thanks

I love a mystery

I came in possession of this tool.

One end is like a spoon and the other is flat like a trowel.

It took some searching, but I found it. It is a tool used in making
sand molds for sand casting. I had no idea.

Your tool looks somewhat like a trowel, but it's hard to tell. Does it
look like it's homemade?

I think it is an oil stone after all, probably never used. Thanks for thinking about it and if anyone has another theory let me know.
