Kenmore 1974-ish
Its actually a 1975 Kenmore 70 series. Skinny quiet pak belt, large capacity, gold Penta-Swirl, solenoid bleach and softener dispensers, automatic soak capability. Its a pretty nice model, as at the time only the 1974 Lady K was a fancier machine.
I'd say this machine deserves to be rescued!
I just noticed something in the pic --- could it be a suds model? Two drain hoses...

WELL Worth Saving
That's the '75 version of my mom's '74. Super quiet. Hers had the option knobs positioned on the slanted section above the panel. She had that machine for 25 years and it was still fine when she got rid of it (Don't get me started) while I was out of town.
This was indeed an oddball notch below a LK, and they don't turn up much. The '74 cost $309.99 new. IIRC, that was still less than an entry level stripped down one-speed Maytag, or certainly the better value.
Gordon, I only see three small knobs on the machine pictured. Mom's had four: Soak Selector, Water Level, Temperature, and (I think) Extra Rinse. Could one of those options have disappeared on the '75s?

you guys amaze me, always with the details. In this case, knob missing , to the left of the far right control. Is that it on the lid, laying there?
Also, I'm wondering - is that tape or just water stains around the hoses and front controls? I thought it might be tape, at first, but not sure. Hopefully, not that clear, sticky tape.

The '75 does not have the second rinse capability that the '74 had, thus there is one fewer selector knob. Why Sears eliminated this I have no idea. Its there in the timer, just not wired up to be active for some reason.
When Kevin and I were at the appliance yard in Glendale (2009 I think) there were about three or four of these there, all Avocado oddly enough.
Clearly I'm biased, but I think these machines are quite nice looking.

Thanks Gordon, I truly want some of these to find homes. Whether they become used occasionally or not, at least maybe by posting them, they'll get a chance, a few of them, to be remembered outside the scrap yards.
Anyways, it's fun from this side, and a learning experience...a few more tonight..and then lights out.

Mom's machine had the solenoid detergent dispenser in addition to FS and LCB. It was designed for use with the Soak & Wash option selected, but it would also dispense for the wash cycle without a prior soak -- only if you set the timer for the maximum wash time. She never used it, as it tended to get knocked off its mount when unloading the tub and was more of a bother than anything else.
Phil, it looks like the timer dial on the subject machine may have taken a hit from some stain removal spray. The one on Mom's machine was damaged by Spray & Wash, but not as badly as the one pictured.
