I think that may be a pic of my dryer.
I think the dryer in your picture is mine. If so, it has an odd vent setup. Most of the slant-front dryers I've seen have the lint filter on the back as pictured above if venting into the room. If venting out of a hose to the outside, there may not be a filter (someone more knowledgeable than myself please chime in here).
My dryer, it is set up for a different venting system. I believe mine is a 1955. The back-mounted filter is on the older models, like my 1950 or 1951. On my 1955, there are holes for connecting a vent hose to exhaust to the outside. My dryer does not use these holes. Instead, it has a vent on the left side of the black kick panel on the front of the dryer. The vent pulls out, and behind the grill is a cage, containing a fabric mesh bag which acts as the lint filter.
I haven't played with it much yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

PS: I brought this dryer to the Pittsburgh wash in, but didn't run it. Moparwash had a great idea, and he replaced the dryer's feet with lockable casters.
