Vintage Westinghouse Twin Tub

It's a mystery why sellers / auction sites so often fail to provide photos of the interior of a washer or dryer or dishwasher.
I put it down to simple ignorance.
Not always intentional mind you, just that people don't know how to market things.
Usually (but not always) if you contact seller and request photos of interior of appliance they will comply if possible. Others cop a very nasty "take it or leave it" attitude.
For these auctions good number of appliances are from estates. Seller may not always have free access to appliance to take more pictures other than what they got first time around.
Finally good number of these auctions cater to locals. They invite people to look at things before bidding begins.

Only thing have been able to find out about this appliance is it was from middle to late 1930's and was called "Westinghouse Spinner Washer".

By post war era can still find Westinghouse advertising wringer washers, but other than that they'd moved onto their famous front loaders.

Methinks like GE and a few others Westinghouse did twin tubs early on marketing spin dryers as safer than mangles for semi-automatic laundry. Twin tubs never really caught on with American housewives (at least not with spin driers), so everyone but Easy pretty much gave up before WWII or shortly after.

Almost spoke too soon regarding HiBid giveaways ~
Life is so surprising. Was preparing a thread about how HiBid has been a tightwad cheapskate paradise for me, winning two machines for ridiculously low prices all thanks to the Laundress for the listings and the Dry Cleaner for emailing me about them.
And now today, I see this Westinghouse going for 95 dollars which is not the peanuts I paid for mine, and a reasonable price indeed.
This machine has had obvious and startling little use: just look at the paint, but how like everyone here, I long to see the interiors, especially the agitator. Glenn, I think non-washer lovers pay little attention to what's under the hood, if any, and thus never think of taking pix. I had a friend say, after showing him the insides of the many machines here, "They all look the same." I'm sure he saw the pity in my eyes, not to mention the horror, LOL.
The monstrosity atop the spinner is to return the suds to the washtub, which would so cool and interesting to see. The ABC Spinner had the same contraption, and maybe another brand or two, but I have not seen one on an early Easy, so far.
Listen, members, please: I am not overly interested owning this washer, but because of its unusually well-preserved condition, and the fact that it is a heretofore never-seen-before, it just begs to be saved by a member of this club. I would love it if one of you is bidding, and I will not get in your way. If not though, in the next five hours, I have a decision to make.

During this afternoon's long swim at LA Fitness when the brain really pops, I realized that we have avid collectors in the Northwest. Patrick and Eddie and Brad and Jon, two of whom grant equal love and status to conventional washers. So hoping it's one of you!
I won't be bidding. Though I'd love to see it working, don't care to own. Fingers Crossed !

Last one checked top bidder was "Maytag" something or other. With a handle like that am going with person is a collector or at least adjacent.
Yes, HBid and other auction places can be treasure troves, but word has gotten out (ok, am partly responsible, *LOL*). Prices aren't always dirt cheap any longer, but often still reasonble.
Thing is one has to know one's merchandise and seller. This isn't fleaPay and it pays to pay attention to auction terms including vendors commission and other charges.
Biggest thing for many is what it always comes down to; shipping. As often wont to happen object of one's desire is no where near where one lives. Some sellers will work with holding things for a bit until can be collected, others flatly cannot and will not be bothered. Collection date is set in stone and if goods aren't moved there are consequences up to and including forfeiture.
Other things to keep in mind is the house always wins. One must have valid CC on file in order to bid, and once hammer falls within a day or less charges are put through. There's no refunds, buyer's remorse, etc...
Finally remember all these auctions are as is and where is, period.
