in the CL searches lately, there's a few of these…this being one of the more reasonably-priced…not self-cleaning, is it?

What a great stove! GE mid century sleek design at its best! But alas, a few years earlier than their first self cleaning. I would say that this is about a 1959 model (the first update to the dash of this stove; later models were larger and more glass dashboard, the earliest 1957-58 models were all stamped aluminum). I recall learning (on this site!) that the first self cleaners were about 1963/64.

Yup

on both counts.  This is a 1959 and the P7 system was introduced in 1963.
